Flagged for removal by Trump.

I swear to God, they are as dumb as lefties. There is no hope for USA. No wonder they are so scared of China, Russia and CANADA.

These were not flagged for removal by Trump or Hegseth. They were flagged by some low level Pentagon flunky.

This might actually be a case of malicious compliance by some Pentagon staff that hate Trump, and DOGE, and the DEI purge. It probably won't happen now that it has been publicized.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth had given the military until Wednesday to remove content that highlights diversity efforts in its ranks following President Donald Trump’s executive order ending those programs across the federal government.

I wouldn't call them "heroes"  dropping a nuclear bomb on a civilian population X2 that was about to surrender anyway..yes it speeded up the "surrender" a bit

From Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irony_punctuation

"...Scare quotes are a particular use of quotation marks. They are placed around a word or phrase to indicate that it is not used in the fashion that the writer would personally use it. In contrast to the nominal typographic purpose of quotation marks, the enclosed words are not necessarily quoted from another source..."

This means that they are not going to remove Enola Gay photos. But of course, we shouldn't rely on the dishonest and immature media (and their mouthpieces) to report that.

Thanks for exposing the AP’s unofficial , no official lack of transparency!

It seems that the understanding has come that the approach "Russia has no nuclear weapons hee hee hahaha we can do everything!" could not be applied forever. After this, US behavior changed. Although for some reason many people associate these changes with the name of the president.

AP ... :cheesy:

Perhaps you'd prefer Fox News. https://www.livenowfox.com/news/pentagon-dei-image-removal

basically concurring what AP is saying:

Like the o/p says about being dumb and dumber, it's astonishing that the Pentagon's algorithm or reviewers failed to grasp the historical context and significance of the Enola Gay name, leading to its inclusion in the purge.

The situation does bear some resemblance to the classic dystopian novel "1984" by George Orwell. In the book, the totalitarian government exercises total control over information, history, and language, suppressing any narratives that contradict their ideology.

Hmm ... didn't realized they moved it from Mud Island, Memphis TN.  Looked rather good there, as popped over to Mud Island a few times.  Great place for concerts also.

Missed some primary school maybe?

Probably,  don't remember ever hearing of "scary quotes" at school ever !

anyway I think I used them correctly even without

a PHD in "everything under the sun"

( or knowing what the hell they are/were)

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/scare quotes

express especially skepticism or derision concerning the use of the enclosed word or phrase

It would seem you where using the quotes in the same manner

IE:  they where not really heroes ?

Damn that Paul Tibbets for naming his B29 bomber after his mother!

I would be that DJT has no idea that there was a famous plane named enola gay much less what it's role in history was.  Let's see those college transcripts mr genius.....show the world what a great student you were...or were not.

Thanks for being neutral in your reply. I didn't really mean too be spiteful. It's just seems the current aura of the AN posts....

But IMO, they where both "heroes" and not. They did difficult mission without knowing what is was, and at the same time Enola Gay marks the start of the time in history when Homo Sapiens are able to to wipe themselves out, and "glass the planet" at the same time, to use the "Halo" wording.

Whether the drop on Hiroshima and Nagasaki was needed, is debatable, but it did show what destruction mankind can inflict on itself.

And those two are nothing compared to the  Russian "Tsar Bomba", 100Mtons, dialed down to the 50Mtons for the test. 240PJ (peta jules) of energy, that was exploded over Kamchatka in 1961.
