This is just two FARANG fighting together, it seems.

Both aggressors are from the UK.

Not quite - it was a British man with a Thai wife and a British couple that were involved. And if you watch the video, I don't think you can really call both couples "aggressors" - the younger couple was mercilessly pummeling the other with punches, kicks and knees, while the elderly couple were just trying to stave off the attacks they were being subjected to.

Foreigners being declared responsible for damage and harm, even if they are not; what's new? But unlike "kidnappings of Chinese" they don't seem to worry about possible repercussions in the media.

Brit probably got a bit lippy with the Thais.

And got a fat lip.
It amazes me how some farangs, and especially us Brits, think they can talk down and yell at the locals without any consequences.

If that is a fat lip, hate to see what you call a beat down….

After more than 35 years of experience in Thailand, I can say one thing with certainty: If you start having trouble with the "natives", pack your bag and RUN!!!

Spot on. I once had an argument with a moto-taxi-rider, which seemed relatively low-key. Still, I later heard that his whole group then plotted to murder me because of this verbal exchange!

Yes, there are risks, but it's not all bad. The important thing is to be careful, diplomatic and willing to compromise. I hope that in the case of the Byrnes, everything will be resolved fairly.

no, she was at her families house the other night. I was home alone with 4 hot chicks and a bag of something that rhymes with weed...

How is anything worse than assault and battery? 🤔 I wonder if Amnesty International would be interested in carrying this story. The logic, or should I say the lack of it here, is quite eye-opening.

Never had trouble. People are people. Don't argue with them. Find out what makes them tick.

I was stopped by police two days ago. I hadn't notice the tax disc of the car I rent was expired. Rather than sing Rule Britannia and explain how I deserve special treatment I politely explained the owner of the car will of course apply for the up to date tax disc. The policeman not only let me go but did not aske me to pay a fine.

And exactly what does your “I’m such a good boy” story have to do with this topic ??

See above. It is always best to read the thread before having a big mouth.

I think it has to be pointed out that the attackers have brought a court case, which I guess is their legal right. It hasn’t gone to court yet, so there is no miscarriage of justice. Reading about the evidence, it seems quite likely that the case will be dismissed and justice done.

I mean, you only have to look at the USA to know that frivolous litigation is brought all the time in the hope of making a buck or getting out of trouble by filing a counter suit

Good to get such an accurate account of exactly what happened from someone that was obviously there at the time … many thanks

as neither of them can own land... how did they end up in a land dispute ?

You can have a land dispute over the land that you currently occupy, whether you own it or not.

For instance, let's say you have a lease on a property. If a neighbour then comes and builds on part of the property you are leasing and you dispute their right to do so (which is what appears to have happened here) then you have, de facto, a land dispute.

I have read the thread thanks, and your comment showing off about how smart  you are, has nothing to do with the topic; it is simply attention seeking.

No, clearly I have to spell it out yet again. It illustrates how fair Thai police and systems are here. If the Brits are innocent they have nothing to fear.

Now run along.

I'd just tell the landowner, and let him sort it out.
