European Parliament Condemns Thailand's Uyghur Deportations

The European Parliament has condemned Thailand’s recent deportation of Uyghur detainees to China, warning of potential human rights violations. It urged Thailand to halt forced returns, grant the UNHCR access to detained Uyghurs, and ensure transparency regarding their status. Lawmakers also called for suspending extradition treaties with China until deportees' safety is guaranteed. Additionally, the EU is pressuring Thailand through free trade negotiations to reform lese-majesty laws and release political prisoners. With 482 votes in favor, the motion reflects growing international scrutiny of Thailand’s human rights practices.
