Since the Russians also kill their PoW they're better of keeping fighting.

Ukrainian POWs can be exchanged for Russians. I expect the ones that were allegedly killed were mercenaries.

If Putin could only take what he has after 3 years, in what insane world do those that think Putin would try to take all of Ukraine live?

If he had, even I would not be calling for an end to western support.

That's why I typed NOT in caps. As it is he's got about 20%. Maybe we're at cross purposes on this one.

I wasn't referring to you. The guy you responded to is on my ignore list so I used your post to respond to him.

Sad you need to go for the personal attack. The maps are usually updated daily. As for my "imaginary grasp of battle" it's not about commenting on the tactics on the battlefield it's more about analysing the direction of battle. Again a couple of wks ago I posted the Kursk salient was looking like it was shaky, last week I posted it was in trouble and a few days ago I said it was collapsing. Say what you like but this assessment was correct.

Your guess was correct but your comments are inaccurate. Facts are facts and you can not define a live battle strategy from after the fact maps. You can define the overall direction of war after the fact yes but not much more.

The information in the article is  merely repeating what is on Telegram, a notoriously unreliable source of information. For all you know it is Russian disinformation.

Actually no, its direct from Ukraine troops, sometimes you just have to face reality albeit a bitter pill to swallow. They did extremely well to hold onto Kursk so long but this was inevitable at some point.

The BBC has received extensive accounts from Ukrainian troops, who recount a "catastrophic" withdrawal in the face of heavy fire, and columns of military equipment destroyed and constant attacks from swarms of Russian drones.

The soldiers, who spoke over social media, were given aliases to protect their identity. Some gave accounts of a "collapse" as Ukraine lost Sudzha, the largest town it held.

But but but, there are posters on this very forum assuring us that it's all Russian propaganda and that Ukraine is winning. Are they wrong?

:whistling:

All they need is a few/several hundred billion US dollars more and they can turn this War around, have a heart!

You can bet your bottom dollar that war crimes and atrocities have been carried out by both sides. It's a bloody war of attrition. The rule book tends to get thrown out in battle.

Russia invaded Ukraine. That is the only bloody atrocity that we all need to know. Rest is about UKraine's defense of their sovereignity with bravery and sacrifices against overwhelming odds. Anyone cheering the Russian are on the wrong side of history.

Anyone cheering for the Russians should try living in their country, subject to their laws and living standards.

Before or after the sanctions went in place?

I don't see anyone cheering the Russians on. We are just pointing out that they are winning and Zelensky is losing.

Some of us have been saying Ukraine would lose since day one, so you might get some "I told you so" satisfaction when Zelensky signs on the dotted line.

You just posted and prodding for Putin to rain ten thousand missles on Ukraine and you claimed you are not cheering Russia. I tried to ignore you as you so full of ridiculous postings and I just can't let this pass.

Doesn't matter. My point is Russians are not living in a democracy.

By battle strategy do you actually mean battle tactics? Obviously the live war maps do not and cannot deal with this with sometimes only a matter of tens of metres being lost or captured or recaptured. There's a lot of this in this war that is gains and losses measured in metres. They analyze the overall movement of troops, battles, ground taken, ground lost etc. From this one can extrapolate "guess" if you like but a rational guess what the direction the battle, be it in one area or overall, is looking like. As for me posting inaccurate comments I'd love for you to share some of these. If they were inaccurate I'll say I was wrong. If you can't then you should apologise.  I'm not saying I haven't been wrong as I did say I thought the ceasefire would happen quickly. So far no ceasefire but Trump and Putin meet today so let's see what comes out of that. Not a ceasefire I wouldn't think. There will be no ceasefire until the Kursk salient has been totally brought back under Russian control. How long this will be is hard to say but it won't been long the way things are going.

Actually living standards in Russia are very good. Good food, I kid you not, great bakeries, markets with Lavash bread fresh from the oven. Dachas with saunas.

Ok, service is terrible, it is ugly and the weather is awful, but living standards are probably on a par with Australia sans the weather.

Oh the irony.....Hahahahahaha

You obviously know very little about Russian demographics, and the Russian economy. They are both on the wrong side of history.

Oh, these Ukrainians! For over three years, they’ve been mocking the amoral admirers of Donald Trump. How they longed for Putin to crush Ukraine in a week or a month! Yet here we are, three years later, and Putin’s conquest of Ukraine remains nothing more than their desperate fantasy. But they don’t lose hope—they pop champagne and throw parties over every minor event. Pathetic people!
