Street Cleaner in Shock After Discovering Woman’s Body Under Mango Tree
Picture courtesy of Khoasod. A street cleaner in Udon Thani was left in shock after what appeared to be a discarded doll turned out to be the lifeless body of a young woman. The grim discovery was made early morning on 23 March, under a mango tree near a apartment block, in the Makkhang area of Mueang Udon Thani district. At around 06:30, Police Lieutenant Vilasinee Asanam, an investigator at Mueang Udon Thani Police Station, received a report from a municipal street cleaner about a woman found hanged under a mango tree. Officers, along with rescue workers from Sawang Methatham Foundation and a medical examiner from Udon Thani Central Hospital, rushed to the scene. The deceased was identified as Miss Thanaporn, a 20-year-old woman who was blind in her left eye. She was found wearing a long-sleeved shirt and a short skirt, with signs suggesting she had died the previous evening. Upon searching her rented room, police discovered her identification card, a disability certificate, and medication for anxiety treatment, leading to speculation that she may have suffered from depression. A lost ID report was also found in the room, bearing the name of a 27-year-old man, Mr. Tasporn, believed to be her boyfriend. However, a key piece of evidence remains missing. CCTV cameras installed at the scene were found to be non-functional, leaving authorities uncertain whether the woman’s death was a case of suicide or foul play. A resident of the apartment complex recalled seeing the woman’s boyfriend arrive on a motorcycle around 20:00 the previous night, calling out her name. This was a common occurrence, with the boyfriend often visiting. However, on this occasion, he only called once and was not seen again. Mrs. Damrongsin, a 54-year-old municipal street cleaner, recounted her shocking experience. “I was sweeping as usual when I noticed something hanging from the mango tree. At first, I thought it was a doll. But as I got closer, I realised it was a person. I was terrified and ran to tell my husband, who was working nearby, to call the authorities immediately. I’ve never seen anything like this in my life, I still have goosebumps.” Authorities have taken the woman’s body to Udon Thani Central Hospital for further examination. Meanwhile, police plan to summon the woman’s boyfriend for questioning to determine the exact circumstances of her death. The case remains under investigation. Canadian PM Carney Calls Snap Election Amid Rising Tensions with Trump
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has called a snap election for April 28, setting the stage for a fierce political battle against Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre. As Carney launched his campaign, much of the focus was on his stance toward U.S. President Donald Trump, who has recently taken an increasingly aggressive approach toward Canada. Speaking in French about U.S.-Canada relations, Carney asserted that he was "fully able to stand up" to Trump. However, he emphasized that any future discussions on trade must be preceded by Trump acknowledging Canada’s sovereignty. "He has to say it and accept it," Carney declared, making it clear that recognizing Canada as an independent nation was a prerequisite for broader negotiations. Despite tensions, the two leaders have yet to speak since Carney took office nine days ago. Carney’s announcement comes at a moment of heightened strain between the two nations. Trump’s tariff policies and recent remarks suggesting that Canada could become America’s "51st state" have fueled political debate north of the border. Carney framed these tensions as existential threats. "He wants to break us so America will own us," he warned. "We will not let that happen." The prime minister said his government was seeking a "strong positive mandate" to push back against these challenges. The election campaign is expected to be fiercely contested, with Carney facing Poilievre as his main opponent. Poilievre, who has drawn comparisons to Trump, launched his campaign by pledging to cut taxes, expand natural resource development, and bring jobs back to Canada. His supporters argue that he represents a break from what they see as the economic struggles caused by years of Liberal leadership. Following Carney’s announcement, the Conservative Party swiftly responded. Former Conservative leader Andrew Scheer criticized Carney, stating that his leadership would make Canada "poorer, weaker, and more vulnerable to the U.S." Conservative MP Michelle Rempel Garner echoed this sentiment, writing that the "lost decade of Liberal-caused crises is about to end." Meanwhile, New Democratic Party (NDP) leader Jagmeet Singh wasted no time in attacking Carney. He accused the prime minister of siding with the wealthy over working Canadians. "When times get tougher, he won’t step in, he’ll step aside," Singh said. He also condemned Trump’s trade war as "illegal," arguing that it was causing job losses in Canada. Singh, along with Carney and Poilievre, made it clear that Canada would not become America’s "51st state." As the election campaign gets underway, polls suggest a tight race. The latest data from CBC’s Poll Tracker shows the Liberals at 37.5% and the Conservatives at 37.1%, making the contest virtually a dead heat. However, analysts warn that public opinion has been volatile in recent weeks. The NDP sits at 11.6%, while the Quebec-focused Bloc Québécois polls at 6.4% nationally but holds a strong 28.4% in Quebec. The Green Party has 3.8% support, while the People’s Party of Canada, still seeking its first parliamentary seat, is polling at 2.2%. With less than six weeks until election day, the battle lines have been drawn. Carney is positioning himself as the defender of Canadian sovereignty against an unpredictable U.S. president, while Poilievre presents himself as the leader who can reinvigorate the economy. Singh, in turn, argues that neither Carney nor Poilievre will stand up for ordinary Canadians. As the campaign unfolds, Canada’s relationship with the U.S. is likely to remain a dominant issue in the race for the country’s leadership. Based on a report by BBC 2025-03-24 -

Teen Caught Red-Handed Cutting Motorway Power Cables, Admits Father Involved
Picture courtesy of Matichon. A teenager has been caught in the act of stealing power cables along the motorway in Chonburi, admitting that his own father had brought him to commit the crime. On 23 March, officers from Highway Police Division 8, led by Pol Col Kukkong Disawat, arrested an 18-year-old suspect, identified only as “Ek”, on charges of stealing public infrastructure. The arrest took place on the shoulder of Motorway 7, at kilometre marker 0+500, heading towards Chonburi city. The police seized stolen power cables and cutting tools as evidence. Authorities had been patrolling the motorway when they received an alert from the traffic control centre about a suspicious individual tampering with electrical infrastructure near kilometre marker 1+300. Upon arrival, officers found the suspect actively pulling and cutting power cables used for motorway lighting. When approached, the suspect attempted to flee but was swiftly apprehended. During questioning, the suspect confessed that his father had picked him up on a motorcycle and brought him to the location to carry out the theft. His father allegedly instructed him to cut the cables while he waited under a nearby bridge, approximately 100 metres from the crime scene. The teenager further admitted that this was not the first time they had committed such an offence. The suspect has been handed over to Mueang Chonburi Police Station for further legal proceedings. -- 2025-03-24
