I'm guessing this has been discussed before but I find the 'search' function isn't always the greatest so I'll ask:

The light is green in both directions, who has the 'right of way', the driver turning left at the intersection or the driver turning right? (Yes, I'm asking in regards to Thailand rules/law.)

It doesn't really matter here. Its who gets going first which is generally the thai.

Nice BS useless answer...... thx for wasting time posting it.

BTW, traffic is already flowing.

"I'm asking in regards to Thailand rules/law."    Not opinions.....

I always give way to traffic from my immediate  right

not traffic that is on the other side of the road trying to turn right.

Sometimes I will give way to avoid collision to traffic coming from the left  on the wrong side of the road  always  look for traffic coming from every direction however unexpected.

Turning right or the red car 🚘 has the rightaway.

It is a question on the driver license test.

Not the same scenario I described..... "The light is green in both directions,"

No stopping prior to the intersection.

So, what does the good Thai law state then?

Ive not seen any intersections here that allow both direction traffic on a green light to turn.

Typically turn right will be allowed with a green arrow...  or green light for 1 direction at a time.

There are several in central Chiang Mai.

You are asking about the below, just for left hand driving.

Most intersection here will have a dedicated green arrow for the right lane crossing turn.

In your case, the left turning car will have the rightaway.

Correct. It is even less intuitive when it is a T intersection and both cars are turning from the main road to the side road. The red car 🚘 still has the rightaway.

That was also on the DLT test.

Thankfully I "passed" on second attempt  with no "help"

some of the questions made no sense at all let alone the answers which are totally bonkers  but you have to give the "correct" answer to pass 🤬

Like this. Yellow car has the rightaway.

Well yes more complete lunacy  🤯  no wonder there are so many accidents.

They might as well just say yellow car has right of way even if  red Learner car was going straight ahead !!!!

Shirley it makes much more sense that the yellow car must wait until the way is clear before turning into the path of oncoming traffic ?

Of course, all this is moot if the vehicles don't show their indicators until they actually start to make their turn or have actually started to turn, which is all too common here.
