Pattaya Hosts Meeting to Regulate Indian Restaurant Businesses for Food Safety Compliance

On 19 March, a meeting was held at the Tap Phraya Meeting Room in Pattaya City Hall, chaired by Mr. Banlue Kullawanish, the President of the Pattaya City Council. The purpose of the meeting was to provide guidance on the operations of food businesses in the Pattaya area, with the  focus on Indian restaurants.
 

The meeting was attended by Mr. Lakhman Singh, President of the Indian Association, along with restaurant operators and relevant authorities, including Mr. Pornphiroam Seuangdaeng, Director of the Environmental Health Promotion Division from the Pattaya Public Health and Environment Office.

 

 

As Pattaya continues to attract a significant influx of foreign tourists, particularly from India, the number of Indian restaurants in the city has grown rapidly. However, it has been noted that some of these restaurants are operating without the necessary permits, and some are not adhering to food safety regulations as outlined in the Public Health Act B.E. 2535 (1992).
 

Specifically, certain establishments have failed to follow proper hygiene and sanitation standards as required by the Ministry of Public Health, which mandates that food business operators undergo training on food safety and hygiene practices.

 

During the meeting, officials explained the necessary steps for Indian restaurant operators to comply with food safety regulations and emphasised the importance of environmental awareness. The session aimed to instill a sense of responsibility among restaurant owners in maintaining high standards of hygiene, which is critical not only for the well-being of customers but also for the city’s reputation as a leading tourist destination.

 

Mr. Banlue Kullawanish stressed that the initiative is part of Pattaya’s broader effort to enhance the city’s image by ensuring that all food establishments operate with the highest quality standards. By doing so, the city aims to elevate the food industry in the tourist zone and provide a safer, cleaner environment for both residents and visitors.

 

The city authorities are committed to promoting food safety while preserving the environment, with a focus on improving the quality of service in the tourism industry. This initiative also reflects Pattaya’s growing commitment to supporting businesses that contribute positively to the city’s economy while ensuring public health and safety.

 

Pattaya’s proactive approach in educating and regulating the local food business sector is expected to not only enhance customer satisfaction but also to set a benchmark for the restaurant industry in tourist-heavy areas.
