I'm late on my 90 day before by 10 days past the 7 day grace period, is my wife still able to do it for me? There's just a 2000 baht late fee I think but not sure if they'll complain I didn't show up because of the late fee.

This is the Chiang Mai immigration office.

What's the point.  You're late already.  Just pay the fine the next time you have to go there.

Next time I need to be there is in 90 days. 🙂 Can't imagine you can be late for so many days...

You can, it's a one off fine.  Go tomorrow or next year will be the same.

ok well in that case I'll have my wife go tomorrow or when she's next available. I'm in the city now but I don't want to stay another day if I don't have to.

Your wife can do the report and pay fine however why do that.

Just wait till you have business with immigration and do it then.

It will be 2k regardless of when you or wife does it.

very well I didn't think they were so lenient. I'll just do it whenever.

Don't do it "whenever."

What we're trying to say is, don't do it until the next time you have to go to immigration for something else.  Do not make a special trip to immigration just to pay a fine.  And if you go to pay the fine, then you're back to doing 90 day reports.  Right now you are free from that until you pay your fine and do your next 90-day report.  Milk it for as long as you can to make the most advantage of the 2000 baht fine.

yeah my wife was having none of that so she'll go in next week when she's free. Thanks.

I can, however, distinctly recall reports on here of 1 or 2 offices insisting on "recalcitrant" foreigners submitting late reports themselves in person rather than getting someone else to do this for them. Don't know whether Chiang Mai are 1 of them, though.

Yes indeed! So my wife calls them today and asks if she can do it. They say NO because I must be present to sign the late fee receipt.

I'm going to Krabi on Friday and the airport is near immigration so I can go then.

As a matter of interest why did you miss the date. It's 15 days before and 7 days after, quite a big window.

I got the email reminder but it came in the middle of the interval for filing and my online application was refused.

I am told that online filing of 90 day is more likely to be successful if done early.

I don't know if that is true or not.

I'm still new on this visa and I simply forgot. My plan was to set a calendar reminder but this time I forget. I forget many things and I'm sure I'll forget this again. 😂

man up its your passport , do the report once a year if you want, just makes the yearly extension 3,900thb

yeah right, It's over an hour drive for me and them costs hours of not working. Wife works in the city and can do it at lunch break with much less effort.

Had a friend do the same thing

He skipped all the 90-day reports and paid the fine when he went into renew his one year retirement extension

It saved a lot of time and a lot of Transportation costs

Surely they'll give you problems if you do this enough? I'd happily pay 2000 baht year to not do a 90 day reports or even think about it.

Certainly wouldn't suggest it as an ongoing MO.

Cleary it's easy to miss 90 report via various circumstances.

Think skipping rushing to do the report and leaving it to next extension is an option is ok as a oncer

Not good plan ongoing

Set the reminder in your phone,it will ring to remind you as often as you want.

Saying that,i missed my 90 days for the first time in 17 years last year.

The fine was 1000 baht cash or 2000 with receipt.

Seems the OP is doing reports in person. No email reminder.

Also online for many is problematic.

Yes it comes up when entering immigration site:

https://www.immigration.go.th/

Mentions phone numbers.

In any event, thinking folk relying on reminders are setting themselves up for trouble.

As soon as you have a TM47 receipt enter next "Due Date" into your cell phone calendar.

Obviously if you exit Thailand and reenter you do your own calculation.

Enter date + 75 days = window open.
