I was curious about the 4% and did a quick google.  Seems it is more like 1.7%.

Imagine spending a considerable amount of other people’s money and going through years of transition while setting your sites to compete with females and then suddenly

Good - biological males competing against biological females is an abomination.  I'm all for those with gender dysphoria having their own athletic competition class where they can compete against others with gender dysphoria.

I support the decision, not because I wish to discriminate against transgender athletes, or those with medical or physical developmental conditions like Imane Khelif; but because I do not want to see women in sport degraded and disadvantaged by being forced to compete against what are, as was certainly the case in the Olympic boxing bout, physically males.

I agree that perhaps a solution is creating a 3rd category, and maybe even having two sub-categories under that. One for female trans and one for male trans.

Why? Males pretending to be females can compete in the male category and females pretending to be males (so long as they haven't taken too many performance enhancing drugs) can compete against females.   If you start down your suggested path then your naivety will get you accused of transphobia as you are excluding 2 spirit penguins and non-binary etc.

I take exception to your use of the word "pretending" in your comment above. These people are not "pretending." They have chromosomal and/or hormonal variants that actually make them what they are—neither definitely male nor female. 

As far as how these types of people should be handled, I would just like for them not to be ignored or, worse yet, accused of faking their claims, as you've done above. There could be three categories: male, female, and "other." The "other" category could have as many sub-categories as necessary, perhaps four, as you suggest, or they could all just compete together.

I think we have to really examine why we now have two categories for sports: male and female. There are plenty of examples of females being allowed to compete on a male sports team, but not the other way. If we think it's important to divide our sports up so EVERYONE can compete with others who are categorized the same as them, then we should consider expanding our thoughts about gender range.

Also, we might consider not labeling people "male" and "female" and just testing their chromosomes and hormonal levels, based on which we might make categories of sports. What do you think about that?

"According to the Williams Institute, 1.4 million adults identify as transgender in the United States. About 0.5% of adults 18-24 identify as transgender, and 0.3% of adults 65 and older identify as transgender."  What Percentage of the Population is Transgender in 2025?

Not sure of your point.  Your message omits a large percentage of people so no total can be reached.  BTW I had no point other than a quick google to discover if the percentage of 4% was real (which I do not believe but whatever).  As I said I did a quick google.  I'm OK if you find a different source and different result.

My only point was that my previous claim of "4%" was wrong. I did look it up before I posted that and posted what I thought I'd found, but now I think the percentage might have been .4% and not 4%.
