Why?  The only thing that gets "approved" is simply that you have entered information in the form correctly.  Nothing is checked or verified.  And as has been stated if it is not done in advance there will be a facility to do it on arrival.

all fair comment.

It has been many years since the paper version was canceled, so I forgot, but did IO remove the TM6 from your passport on departure?

It's not that long, was still in use at land borders year before last.

Yes, the IO would remove the departure part of the TM6 but if they were actually processed is another matter.

Actually there are still some land borders that use the paper form.  I assume they'll retire that on May 1st.

It's actually still in use at most crossings in fact, only 8 land crossings (the busier ones) had it suspended.

The 3 day rule has failure written all over it...

Unless the airlines get their act together, the whole thing will have failure written all over it. Just as there were people creating long queues at the immigration booths because they didn't have a paper TM6 - unless the airlines advise people that they need to complete this online application, the queues will return.

I can already hear the critic's keyboards cranking up telling me that its up to the traveller to check the entry requirements - we know about this, many travellers don't. They check if they need a visa and that's about it - especially the ones that have visited over the last few years when there was no TM6.

Provided these people are weeded out before they get to the booths/automated entry barriers, it won't be a problem.  When there was a paper TM6, sometimes there were staff checking travellers had a completed one, sometimes there were no staff. When there were no staff, most I.O.s would send them back at the booth but there were so many that it still created queues. Ditto when you had to present your boarding card - many leave them tucked in the seat pocket on the aircraft.

How many people are going to clog up the auto booths trying to go through, having failed to complete TDAC?

I've just booked my June ticket with Qatar direct - e-tickets came immediately, no mention of TDAC and I don't expect anything further.

There are no automated entry barriers.  The automated gates are only for exiting.

I don't use land borders very often so can only go on what i actually know.

TDAC departure details now required before form can be completed and submitted.  That's going to cause some issues.

What's the problem?

In your screenshot, what does the absence of the red asterisk next to "Date of Departure" signify in your opinion?

Indeed.

Obviously the one of interest is date of departure.

At a guess folk would put what the entry stamp "admitted till date" would be?

Should not be required till departure. Wasn't when TM6 was in play.

Edit: error. The red star fields are compulsory. My mistake.

Why/how would those fields be required on entry.

On the TM6 form you could just leave all the Departure details parent.

You do not have to fill the departure details on the TDAC; however, if you do fill out the departure date, you will also have to fill out the details. At the moment, if you fill out the departure date it is not possible to delete it unless you start all over again.

Indicates to me they were in the process of backtracking when I took the screenshot as the other three red asterisks have also gone now.

Also incorrect - highlight the entry and press backspace to remove it.  You can then continue with the form.

When I fill out the departure date (and mode of transport) I get the red asterisks for the remaining departure details. Yes, I can remove the departure date; however, the asterisks does not disappear when I remove the departure date. I have to start all over again to remove them.

Agreed, but you never mentioned the "and mode of transport" bit in your earlier post.  I think it's fair to say it's still a Work in Progress.

I misremembered when the asterisks appeared. They are working to improve the formular, there have been some changes in the last few days, so, perhaps everything will work fine for the official launch.

Thank you for that new screenshot. It shows that the form is till a work in progress, being improved steadily. It's a good thing to see.
