Bad Company: Does this resonate with you now, more than ever? Why?

Featured Replies

Dear Folks,

Rolling on to the bitter end…and all that….

You should know how it feels, NOW, my friend…..

And, other than the lyrics, which are great…..

Is it the heavy BASS of this music that old men prefer, now that they have already destroyed their high-frequency hearing, by now?...and….

…Can probably hear almost nothing else than low-bass frequencies….?

Yes, we are getting very old, by now.

And, is this why we like Bad Company?

Or, have we now become, secretly, just dirty old men, in the eyes of others who are so much younger, every time we sit at a bar in Pattaya?

There are just so many possibilities.

Personally, I never liked Bad Company that much, when I was far younger, in 1974.

Now, though, I think this music is growing on me.

IF I only had a love that was so true…that….I would not need to…

just….MAKE DO…..here in Thailand….haha…yes!

Maybe this music was made for us old men living in Thailand?

BAD COMPANY…..

Music before its time???

What say you?

I am really getting into this:

Best regards,

Gamma

You are always bad company. In fact, some of the worst company I can imagine. An oversized pub-pest of the highest order. Nice one!

Why not just listen to the music I linked...because...it might just help to....

Calm your troubled mind, a bit....

There are some very beautiful Irish themes in this music, I must say.

Good for the spirit, for sure.

Enjoy, Sir.....!

That’s the problem with you. You arrogantly post all these painfully pedestrian music videos as if you’re some kind of musical messiah, enlightening the poor, clueless masses who have been desperately waiting for you to introduce them to new songs, yet they’ve already known of them for decades. Newsflash: so most people here have heard all of this before. I first owned that album over 40 years ago. Alas, congratulations, you’re only about half a century late. Keep up the groundbreaking work, Globs of Redundancy.

If you would sing a song for us...and send it to me....

Then...

I would be happy to post your song on TV.

Would you be willing?

I've got an even better idea: you stop posting all of your garbage altogether and I'll sing a song of joy to the high heavens

Send me the song...first.

If it's as great as I think it will be...then....

I might take your suggestion.

Deal?

Deal! Done:

“Gamma the Great (In His Own Mind)”

(Verse 1)

Oh, here comes Gamma, king of the thread

Typing out nonsense, all in his head

Claims he’s a genius, says we’re all fools

But his logic’s twisted, breaking the rules

(Pre-Chorus)

Hides in the shadows, behind a screen

Spitting out venom, staying unseen

Thinks he’s a god, but we all can tell

It’s just his ego, building a shell

(Chorus)

Gamma the Great, oh what a sight

Bragging all day, trolling all night

Looking down on the world with a sneer

But deep inside, there’s nothing but fear

(Verse 2)

Passive aggressive, smug and so vain

Preaching his nonsense again and again

Lurks in the forum, craving a name

But all he delivers is more of the same

(Pre-Chorus)

Hides in the shadows, behind a screen

Spitting out venom, staying unseen

Thinks he’s a god, but we all can tell

It’s just his ego, building a shell

(Chorus)

Gamma the Great, oh what a sight

Bragging all day, trolling all night

Looking down on the world with a sneer

But deep inside, there’s nothing but fear

(Bridge)

Oh, he loathes the people near his place

Yet begs for love in cyberspace

A high IQ? Well, that’s his claim

But all he does is play his game

(Outro)

So Gamma, keep typing, play pretend

Your kingdom’s crumbling, it’s near the end

For all your boasts and all your might

You’re just a troll lost in the night

Flattery will get you nowhere.....

Hard to top this one, though....

Bonus track:

“The Ballad of Gammaglobulin”

Verse 1:
Oh, there’s a man in Chiang Mai town,
A keyboard king with a thorny crown,
Gammaglobulin’s his name, they say,
A troll who types his nights away,
With a passive jab and a smug little grin,
He sneers at the world and the mess he’s in,
A god in his mind, so high and so fine,
But the forum just groans at his every line,

Chorus:
Oh, gamma, gamma, what a show,
A bigot’s heart in a troll’s shadow,
Bragging loud with an IQ so grand,
A lonely pest in a far-off land,
Spam and nonsense, childish flair,
He craves their love but they just stare,
Gammaglobulin, the forum’s blight,
A petty king in the digital night,

Verse 2:

He loathes the West, he scorns the Thai,
A secret hate he can’t deny,
But still he posts, day after day,
For scraps of praise in a twisted play,
“Beneath me, all!” he cries with glee,
A high-IQ myth, pure fantasy,
Yet the threads he floods with garbage bold,
Are tales of a soul both cruel and cold,

Chorus:

Oh, gamma, gamma, what a show,
A bigot’s heart in a troll’s shadow,
Bragging loud with an IQ so grand,
A lonely pest in a far-off land,
Spam and nonsense, childish flair,
He craves their love but they just stare,
Gammaglobulin, the forum’s blight,
A petty king in the digital night,

Bridge:

Ludicrous rants, a childish spree,
He types away in anonymity,
A passive jab, a low-key slight,
He stirs the pot with grim delight,
But deep inside, the truth is plain,
A hollow man in a troll’s domain,
No god, no genius, just a bore,
A pest they wish would post no more,

Chorus:

Oh, gamma, gamma, what a show,
A bigot’s heart in a troll’s shadow,
Bragging loud with an IQ so grand,
A lonely pest in a far-off land,
Spam and nonsense, childish flair,
He craves their love but they just stare,
Gammaglobulin, the forum’s blight,
A petty king in the digital night,

Outro:

So here’s your song, you forum fiend,
A mirror held to the mess you’ve weaved,
Keep typing trash, keep playing the fool,
Gammaglobulin, the troll’s own jewel,

Bad Company is one of the better groups to come out during the 70's and continue into the 80's and into the mid 90's. All the singers they had are extremely good, especially one of rock's best singer's, Paul Rodgers. A competent rhythm section and excellent guitarist in Mich Ralphs, along with heartfelt and solid lyrics has this band near the top of all rock bands.

Why not walk on by and not read the post.

Good song. Listened on my new Bose speaker, gift from my daughter.

I had forgotten about high fidelity sound, little speaker big sound.

I don't disagree with what has been said about Gamma.

I have said before GG is a sad individual and would be a figure of pity were he not so thoroughly unlikeable.

But, although I didn't read all the post it seems like a change from him always trying to present himself as a brilliant, highly cultured individual.

Witness his post about discussing the universal background radiation (or something) with children.

The fact that he referred to a mainstream rock song instead of some kind of esoteric artsy kind of thing seems like a welcome change to me.

Never liked Bad Company. Turgid lyrics and music.

Where would his fun be in doing that?

Yes.

There is always something better, I guess.

Preferences in music are very diverse.

This is no such thing as the best, or better.

One man's taste and preference is just as good as the next man's.

Or, at least, I THINK this is true.

We aren’t your friends.  You need friends.  Real friends.  I think most of us can see that. Do you have facebook or something?  Adopt a cat and talk to it and see if it reacts?  This is AseanNow. Not GammaGoblinGolum seeking love and attention now.

Have you not noticed that you chronically post sad sh!! and every post is downvoted?  I’m just suggesting that there are probably better places to post this drivel.

Your computer issue..why did you post it here?  Why not ask support or on a tech forum for real answers.  No offense, I’m just saying this is definitely not the best place to get opinions on music or computers or whatever.   Problems with immigration, yeah. Questions about Thai culture and experiences, yeah.

It’s like you are walking around a crowded area somewhere with a blondfold on asking random strangers what kind of music they like and if they have suggestions on computer repair.

Get friends.  Ask questions to the appropriate people in appropriate forums. Use ChatGPT and talk to yourself for a few days. Just stop acting like an idiot. I’m not saying you are a bad person, but use common sense.  The internet wasn’t born yesterday

Amen to that, brother.  This goofball OP is getting more than frustrating.  I try to understand his mentality, but the best I can come up with is autism.

Does anyone here care to know what I think or feel or learn about my personal preferences and tastes about everything?   DO YOU???   Anyone?  DO ANY OF YOU WANT TO KNOW?  *crickets*
Fine.  I am met with silence.  Then I will not post it and keep my musical preferences and opinions to myself instead of dumping non-stop $hiZ here.

Follow my lead, GolemGoblin.  You probably won’t go far, persay, but you witll probably go a bit further than you do here, Doctor OneStar.

This is why one often sees the two words OLD and CROTCHETY paired together...

One needs to learn and apply the power of patience.

And, this is less easy as one ages, in most cases.

Why do old men become so crotchety?

I am not crotchety, however I must work harder to maintain my usual patience with the reality surrounding me these days.

I feel for you.

But, still, it is worth it to try harder.

(Concerning Crickets:  I wish we had more around here.)

I’m not old.  At all. I’m much younger than you. Get a life, bro. I’m saying that with love. Go do something other than sit around pretending that anyone cares about what you type on your keyboard.  Go meet a friend somewhere. Stay away from schools and playgrounds, but try a coffee shop or something.

Young people have no patience, these days.

Young people have no wisdom, and know not the importance of avoiding short attention-span syndrome.

I’m not young.  You called me old and I can tell by your post I am a lot younger than you. That doesn’t make me a soring chicken. I wish it did, but it doesn’t. The weather here is decent today.  You should hobble outside and enjoy life.  Just stop posting on AN because everything you post gets voted to one star?  You don’t see the pattern?  You might be a great giy in person, but you aren’t liked here. If you were, you’d get five stars.  Five is par for the course.  You just keep trying and hoping and praying.  It won’t change anything.  Do something different.

There has to be something you can do that is better than this. You fail and fail and fail.

I’m not trying to bully you, but think of a better way to soend your time and seek attention.
