Community Loyal Dog Stands Guard Over Owner’s Body in Wooded Area Behind Home
Picture courtesy of Khaosod. A scene unfolded in Panomsarakham district on the morning of 1 July, after the body of a 25-year-old man was discovered in a wooded area behind his home, watched over faithfully by his pet dog. At approximately 08:30, officers from Khao Hin Son Police Station were alerted to a suspected death in Moo 1, Khao Hin Son subdistrict,Chachoengsao. Upon arrival, police and rescue workers found villagers gathered near the edge of a forested area. The scene was cordoned off for investigation. The deceased was identified as Mr Wachira believed to have died around 12 hours prior. His body showed multiple injuries, including three stab wounds to the chest and a deep gash across the neck. A blood-stained kitchen knife and the handle of a pair of scissors were found next to the body. Poignantly, the man’s dog remained by his side and refused to leave, even as authorities arrived. According to Mrs Bee, the deceased’s aunt, Wachira had left home the previous night accompanied by the dog. When he had not return in the morning, she asked her daughter-in-law and mother to search near the fields and woods behind the property, where they discovered his body still watched over by the loyal animal. Mrs Bee also revealed that her nephew had been struggling emotionally for several days. “He hadn’t been himself,” she said. “He cried constantly and told me, ‘Mum, my life is nothing now.’ I had planned to take him to a doctor, but I was too late.” Initial statements from both the family and a close friend suggested Wachira had been overwhelmed by family issues. He had recently returned home from work in Pattaya and reportedly found himself alone. “He kept crying and saying he had no one left,” his friend said. “I tried to comfort him, but I didn’t realise he was suffering so much.” While authorities have not ruled out any possibilities, the preliminary assessment indicates a likely case of self-harm rather than foul play. The body has been sent for forensic examination at the Police General Hospital to determine the exact cause of death.
