The Bhumjaithai Party is weighing the expulsion of Khon Kaen MP Ekkarat Changlao after his attendance at a Kla Dharma Party event in the region. The meeting, held to establish a new Kla Dharma branch, has sparked discussions within Bhumjaithai regarding Ekkarat's future within their ranks.

Party leader Anutin Charnvirakul disclosed that party members proposed reviewing Ekkarat's actions, with expulsion on the table. Anutin stressed that any removal must be justified and confirmed that a meeting to address the matter will be arranged, though his current focus on earthquake relief efforts has delayed setting a date.

Ekkarat attended the event in Khon Kaen on March 29, celebrating his son Pitakchon’s new role as Kla Dharma branch chief. His appearance alongside prominent Kla Dharma figures, such as Chief Adviser Thamanat Prompow, has raised eyebrows and speculation about his political affiliations.

Ekkarat has been transparent about his intentions to join Kla Dharma if expelled, feeling a stronger alignment with the new party. He asserted that Anutin was informed and empathetic to his reasoning.

Pre-empting his anticipated expulsion, Ekkarat aims to transition to Kla Dharma before the next election while retaining his MP status. He is optimistic about a smooth transition, given that both parties are coalition partners with Pheu Thai.

This move has been on Ekkarat's mind for six months, influenced by his rapport with Thamanat and his belief that Kla Dharma will offer him a more comfortable political platform, reported The Thaiger.
