PM Reassures Public on Bangkok Building Safety

Following the collapse of a Bangkok building during the March 28 earthquake, Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra reassured the public that the incident was due to isolated technical errors, not widespread structural risks. She pledged a thorough investigation and emphasised Thailand’s building safety standards. Over 13,000 inspections have been conducted, with only two buildings deemed unsafe. Italian-Thai Development PCL, part of the joint venture behind the failed project, expressed regret and promised cooperation. Criminal charges are being considered, though blacklisting has not been confirmed. The government remains focused on restoring international confidence.
