RIP

The man was able to get 10 additional years after his diagnosis of laryngeal cancer thanks to chemotherapy and  surgery. 20 years ago, he probably would have gotten  5 years at best.

Hopefully, medical advances can continue to be made.

The Ice Man has left the pattern for the final time.  RIP.

he's had a terrible illness of some sort for years where he could barely speak, didn't he?

no one started a thread on gene hackman? that was a tragic situation.

He was a brilliant actor and at the top of his game he was one of the best, he will be missed.

He was superb as Jim Morrison in 'The Doors'.

I must have missed them.

Was it concluded if there was any foul play?

Rest in peace, Val Kilmer – the ultimate "Iceman" who flew higher and cooler than the rest; he's someone else's wingman now !!...

He was a terrible Batman. Truly abominable.

Kilmer's reputation for being difficult on set had reportedly exploded into open warfare with the director, Joel Schumacher, normally the most temperate of men, who called his leading man's behaviour "difficult and childish".

John Frankenheimer, who directed Kilmer in The Island of Dr Moreau, was even blunter.

"I don't like Val Kilmer," he said. "I don't like his work ethic and I don't want to be associated with him ever again."

Val is not short for Valerie, but not sure what the origins of that odd name are.

aha ....  I understand,    in Australia we usually call a lady .. Val,  and it's normally short for Valerie,   but I've never heard of that person before.

I watched Val Kilmers Batman Forever last night and it was very much in the style of the Batman in the above picture...quite enjoyable in a ludicrous over camp sort of way  just how I rememberd the TV series as a kid.

(didn't know about the camp as a kid)

Terrible.

Too young.

So sudden, too.

We all enjoyed his work, for sure.

Complications from throat cancer?

Terrible.

Apparently he was difficult to work with. Some good movies for sure.

I saw that movie but the only part I remember was the drug scene to American Woman, and that vaguely.
