Hendrix? Are you making a bad joke? There's about a zillion other bands better that that. Santana for a start.

Ever hear of the Rolling Stones, Dire Straits, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchel, Judy Collins etc etc etc.

Even Abba was more popular than Hendrix.

I scorn your Hendrix.

I don't care for Frank Sinatra's singing, just doesn't appeal to me.

But I am not foolish enough to denigrate one of the most popular singers of all time.

We all have our likes and dislikes, some things are better left unsaid.

Excellent post. I don't care for Frank Sinatra's singing either. I will not say he can't sing, but I just do not like his voice, so many of his songs have very little melody, ie "I Will Drink The Wine". "It Had To Be You". Great Actor though.

In my opinion, the best singer pre Elvis was Perry Como. Don't need to leave our opinions unsaid, as long as they are respected.

Music is indeed subjective and while one man’s Hendrix might be another man’s Frankie Laine we should respect the abilities of all.

Over the years my tastes have changed slightly but it seems anything with a guitar is good in my opinion and this guy is my current favourite.

Could listen to this any day .

Eric Clapton is one of the greatest guitarist's ever. But to me Jimi Hendrix's guitar playing is more like producing sounds using gadgets than actual guitar playing.

The Don.

I dated Eric Claptons bass player Jack Bruce's niece for over two years back in Scotland, that would be in  the mid seventies.

Don’t agree with the Hendrix comment.

My elder brother used to own a bunch of experimental rock music albums from artists such as Zappa, Can, Gong, Faust and many other Krautrock bands from the sixties which I could never get into.

Seemed like they were producing sounds by any manner necessary to create “ music “, indeed Pink Floyd were working on an album using only household objects in their early days.

But among the weird were the classic stuff and some lesser known bands that stood the test of time to create a cult following, one such band is Pink Fairies.

Clapton is a plagiarist, never played an original note in his life

They're are great talents ... I can't even keep a tune in the shower, let alone play an instrument.

He never played anything the same way twice, probably why Clapton admired him so much
