They do have a problem in Thailand to hand out change. Some banks make a real fuss and behave as if it was comming out of their pocket, Very often was rudely refused to get smaller 100 bhat notes for the 1000 bhats in Hua Hin, in a certain green logo bank branch in Market Village. Always the same fellow at the counter,  who was very rude and seemed to have an issue with the rich foreigners comming over to change 30k in 1000's for smaller notes.

Just Google “does Thailand still have pay phones?

Answer: Currently TOT has around 120,000 phone booths around the country with 30,000 of them located in Bangkok and its outskirts; the rest are located in the provinces.
