Nice try blaming your circumstances on your surroundings.  A weak mind is to blame for your predicament.  Focus on developing mental strength and toughness.  But you probably don't know how to.  If you knew how you would have already done it.  You will get a wakeup call if there is anything to salvage.

Well, I would recommend Alcoholics Anonymous, but you don't sound like you've hit bottom yet. I interpret your post as blaming others for "making" you drink. I don't care how much you spend on rehab programs, you aren't likely to achieve long-term sobriety until you accept that you drank because you're an alcoholic. In other words, I think you want to be reassured that alcoholism is not your problem. Anyway, according to Tradition Three, anyone who wants to stop drinking can be a member of Alcoholics Anonymous Go to a couple of meetings. They don't force you to join. Some groups are not for everybody; the first meeting I went to was a disaster. Don't be put off by the "God Thing." It's not really necessary.

Whats so good about thailand, mike?

The Don.

It's one of those silly bait type questions, and if anybody asks it, there's certainly no point in answering it. You obviously don't live here, and if you do live here you likely living in Pattaya or Phuket, the two worst spots in the country.

Wrong Mike. Never lived in any of those.

Still hate the place.

No. Quite the opposite.

I no longer drink alcohol at all. I wasn't a daytime drinker, but I didn't want to end up spending all my days propping up a bar, so I decided to start exercising more. Drinking (dehydration and hangovers) don't really go together with training, so I found it very easy to stop.

I wonder if susceptibility to alcoholism is in the genes of some people.

I exercise 2-3 hours every morning, then usually have a few cold beers in the afternoon. Never get a hangover.Cant stress how important exercise is to ones mental wellbeing.

I totally stopped drinking. I went from 3 big LEO's a day to zero, best decision ever. Smoking a joint at night, combined with some otc meds, keep me calm and sane without a hangover.

I assume you must have left already. I can't think of many more things in life that would be more terrible than hating the place that you're living. Some of us are fortunate enough to absolutely love it here. Contentment is a beautiful state of mind. Fight for it like nothing else matters.

No.

But I (used to be) a compulsive crypto gambler back in 2011 and now I have won BIG TIME, at least financially.

Would you like to know exactly how much I have in my HK bank account right now?

You really are clueless donny/bob. Here by choice and happy with my choices in life. If you only knew how many of us live. Absolutely no contact other than the net with losers like you.

Good for you. All financial worries gone. What makes your life meaningful these days?

Very enviable position. Don't know where in Thailand you live, but can you really find that beautiful state of mind with the air quality as it is?

Nothing.

I am an alcoholic in recovery.

Doesn't change the fact that I could buy a small 6 seater plane tomorrow if I wanted to, though.

Do you see a danger that alcohol filled the vacuum and if you recover you'll still have the problem of how to fill the empty?

what percentage of foreigners are alcoholics?

can it even easily be defined? if you're retired and you dont need to work anymore and you're in a bar all day, is it considered alcoholism?

did meet a thai girl who was dating a foreigner. she said she cut him loose because he had a drug problem.

Being a life long teetotaler I am no expert where alcohol is concerned, but I would say if someone  drinks alcohol every day then he has a big problem even if not an actual alcoholic, but he is definitely on the road to it.
