No names until several days will have elapsed after which a police test will confirm no alcohol in the BMW driver's system. After a few more days all will be forgotten, and another hi-so half-wit gets away scot-free with no charges.

Really?...

"The Royal Thai Highway Police will press charges against Smitthiphat Leenawarat, the son of a prominent Pathum Thani politician, following a traffic incident.

Pol Col Kuekkong said that blood alcohol tests conducted two hours after the incident showed no trace of alcohol in his system.

He also addressed public concern over the red number plate on Mr Smitthiphat's BMW. Preliminary checks revealed inconsistencies with the vehicle's registration. The Department of Land Transport will probe the matter further.

If fraud is confirmed, the car and various documents will be handed over to Lam Luk Ka police for a possible document forgery case.

In addition to the reckless driving charge, Mr Smitthiphat will face an additional charge for driving without a valid licence, as his licence expired in June 2021. Investigations are also examining the speed at which he approached the M-Flow toll booth".

The guy in the pick up caused the accident by changing lanes abruptly, no signal use .

This is typical Thai behavior on the road!

The young kid in the BMW , upped it a few notches by performing pay back , ramming his car  into the pick up to force the driver to stop.

The young lad should be charged with assault !

He has 4 charges against him, 2 for injuring people in the pickup, 1 for dangerous driving, 1 for causing damage to another vehicle.

Don't forget a 5th charge, as his license expired in 2021, which means technically he is an unlicensed driver, and would have to take the driving license testing all over again as it is way past the 1 year grace period for renewal. He may also end up with a 6th charge for speeding through the toll booths,  that speed was another factor in the initial incident.

Where was that reported?  He got his licence years ago.

Obtaining a license doesn't mean subsequently driving a car.

Expand

I think that it, more likely than not, does as the car in which he passed his test would have to be driven away.

In Thailand one must have driven a car in the driving test to, legally, obtain a licence and the chances of never driving a car after the issuance of the licence until the day of this incident is, practically, zero.

When I got my driver's license with just 18 I didn't have the money to buy a car. My first car I bought as a student when I was 20.

But my father let me drive his car. Sometimes. Not often.

It's not different from Thailand.

So your comment makes zero sense.

Tested within a couple of hours and not at all drunk.

Jeez - He is a pretty bad driver then, no wonder he lost his license. I hope the media report the real reason why he 'forgot to renew his license'!

You don't seem to understand what HI-So means in Thailand. It's doesn't mean the political class. It means the well off and socially active upper middle class and upper class.
