Why so many conspiracy theorists and what to do about them

Conspiracy theorists will continue to put a negative spin on it.

But there are many positives to owning nothing.

For instance, you can rent a different car every month.

And car ownership costs will be less because you are renting so no need to pay all the associated fees. Plus no need to worry about parking.

It's only because you have a pre-conceived notion that everything the establishment does is evil, you will obviously interpret this as a diabolical plot to control you and keep you small. Ie ownership has been traditionally seen as a sign of status in the world.

It's all a matter of perception.

C.f. my reply to emptypockets, saying that most people would unfortunately be on board with it. There would be no cars under Agenda 2030, frogs, just limited public transportation within 15-minute cities (look that up for a glimpse of what a nightmare looks like… at least to anyone who doesn't have a slave mindset).

More conspiracy theories are not at all.   They are truths denied by authorities, to stop us becoming intrigued; and then investigating further.

Well, I'm not on board with the bugs part. And I hope we find a better solution to this problem.

But you will always be angry and miserable if you keep comparing yourself to the lifestyle billionaires lead.

For one thing, there are way too many people on the planet to sustain the current level of consumption, let alone elevate everyone to millionaire status. There simply aren't enough resources on the planet.

Did you read el gato yet ?    He does seem to share your optimism ,  that the craziness from the usual suspects is unsustainable .   "hold on tight"  seems to be a reasonable forecast .... as unfortunately the Minister of BS (yours truly) ,  is kept on a leash by the everlasting "legal procedures" .   Which are so fkd up that its like watching a comedy/tragedy  with all the nonsense going on,  and really what one wants to do is kick all their butts ,  take all their ill-gained riches ,  and throw em to the lions .

Take my chains off !!     ok, ok,  i'm ok .  New years resolution is to just really try to ignore transam   uhh,  i mean all the static and just ease into this retirement mindset.

Hope DT and company stay strong.  Kinda kills me to see that he has to make deals with the devils ( speakin of the Masters of Ai) .   I also agree that the covid needle has changed, but a great number of humans have been so dumbed down , and many more destroyed by the monopoly game which has them bankrupt or near it .   All subjects (along with medical mafia)  for other "conspiracy theory"  discussions.

Cheers

Will read el gato a little later tonight.

No, you will have self-driving robotaxis which you can rent.

You may not own them. But as I mentioned, one advantage is you can drive a bunch of different cars.

But this may not be by 2030. I think it will take several decades before no one owns a car. They are still making plenty of cars. The manufacturing would stop now if it was going to be rolled out in 2030.

Self-driving robotaxis may start to be widely adopted by 2030, but you can still own.

I have my eye on a bicycle that will be ordered online, the tricky part is narrowing down the correct size given that bicycles of the same size vary by manufacturer and model due to geometry of the bar angles and my size is dead center between two sizes which makes it a bit challenging. So what I did was load my dimensions into Gork along with several bicycle charts of bikes that I know that are a fit along with the bike chart I’m eyeing. Also I loaded a chart of a bicycle with incomplete geometry data on the internet, of which a shop here in cm happens to have where I took the measurements, did this to verify Gorks accuracy and Gork nailed it with the correct measurements.

Indeed, this is what it should be used for. It has saved me a lot of time looking for stuff. Ideally, we should stop calling it AI: it is a highly sophisticated productivity tool.

Long-term car rentals existed over a decade ago (very handy for people on the move a lot), there is no need to integrate this service to an all-encompassing grid which has 1 benefit for 10 drawbacks.

In the workplace, yes, that is true and an issue which has long existed. Work for the man or work for yourself.

Isn't the whole thread about conspiracy and the doom of the human race? I've had a few beers so could be mistaken, or really don't  give a <deleted>.

I don't compare myself to them  or even want to

There are plenty of resources if the millionaires, billionaires, trillionaires  shared a bit ..but even if they don't there is still plenty of resources for everyone to be 'comfortable'  have enough food and water and a roof over their head...the latest

Iphone is not necessary or needed ..still vast swathes of land 'underused'....and then off to the Moon and Mars 😋

Plenty of resources and plenty of resourceful and motivated people.

Good for them . Why give away their hard earned to the lazy?

The dimmest of the dim.  AN is social media, just no algorithm or photos.

A bit of tangential discussion is good and lightens the atmos (a bit).

OK... don't forget people with only a few brain cells know that opinion is only as good as the logic and evicence behind it... and well.... it is polite if I just say that you've come up short in that department.

I suggest you acquire a better dictionary.

social media:

  1. websites and applications that enable users to create and share content or to participate in social networking.

If those words are difficult.... please throw in the towel on AN.

The answer to the OP's post question is simple really. The reason there are so many conspiracy theories out there is because of universal instant communication, a thirst for individual notoriety, the only way to get attention now is to shock or offend people, every muppet can connect with anyone, a lack of general education and critical thinking skills in most of the world's population, and an intentionally opaque and muddied response from the authorities because it serves their purpose for people to not know things and dream up nonsense.

Your shot at the answer went off into the deep rough.  AN allows you as many attempts as you like.  This should be entertaining.

The limits of AI are due to the expense and limited access to the resources required.

This is definitely not a ubiquitous problem.  Thankfully it is largely confined to the political spheres and even there reasonable voices are still present.

Oddly enough, it is the science that conspiracy theorists reject that enables them to communicate (in their echo chambers)

Once again you fail to understand simple English..... which explains the widening gap between you and reality.

Your query is a perfect example of your ineptitude at asking the right kind of question.  And the answer you got is restricted by the terms of your query.... and you will never have a clue as to why you're so far off base on most issues.

LOL....I did not claim there were no differences.  That is a fabrication that lays solely at your feet.

No, it (potentially) has multiple benefits.

- The air will be far less polluted.

- The traffic will be far less congested.

- Parking lots may be converted to green space and cities will be more livable.

trying to give significance to tangential topics, e.g., the definition of internet medias or car rentals  in the context of this thread, actually shows the lack of scientific discipline of conspiracy theorists, as it is irrelevant, but they don't seem to know they are treating the discussion as if it's a football game, trying to make points for an overall score

The real damage or breeding ground for conspiracy theorists  shows up among users who are not particularly computer literate and lack the critical thinking skills needed to evaluate online information. (or any other information for that matter)
Many cannot tell the difference between research and searching. Google is treated as a source rather than a tool, and the first confident-sounding link is assumed to be authoritative. Source quality, methodology, and bias are rarely questioned.
This makes them especially vulnerable to pseudoscience, conspiracy narratives, and “alternative facts” that mimic the language of real science but lack evidence, peer review, or falsifiability. A YouTube video, Substack post, or Facebook graphic can carry the same weight as decades of established research.
Algorithm-driven platforms amplify the problem by repeatedly feeding users content that confirms their existing beliefs, creating the illusion that “everyone is saying this” and that dissenting views are either corrupt or suppressed.
In this environment, such users are effectively sitting ducks. Without media literacy, research skills, or an understanding of how platforms manipulate attention, they mistake repetition for truth, confidence for competence, and popularity for proof.

If there are differences, then they are de facto two separate things. There can be no difference between an element and its category. I can't ask Gemini "what is the difference between a car and a vehicle", for example.

Yeah, but that's bs.

Everyone on this forum has "a roof over their head" and they're still constantly complaining.

That's not what people want.

People all want to be rich.

And it's not feasible for 6 billion people to be rich.

There aren't enough rare earth minerals to be mined.
