I don't know where you are getting your info from, AFAIK SS is still taxable, depending on circumstances like combined income.

Passed in Senate, and appoved in the House ...

I guess you don't get out much. Plenty of former Trump supporters complaining about Trump costing them their livelihoods.

The biggest expense items in the federal budget are Medicare and Social Security. Trump and Musk are working on privatizing them, which opens up new opportunities for corruption. Modern day carpetbaggers.

Be very nervous if you are getting any SS payments.

From TH or when you go back to OZ ... you keep in touch with a lot of Yanks in the USA, do you ?

All you non Yanks not living in USA, telling us how we are so unhappy.   My family & friends that live in the USA, will disagree with you.  All like Trump being President instead of Harris.

And many of my Thai friends disagree with you and Trump, and everybody in OZ is laughing about him.

Thais & Aussies, who also don't live or vote in the USA ...

... can we get any more irrelevant to Yanks that do live there (or here/TH) & vote :coffee1:

While you have a laugh, I'll have chuckle myself ...

Perhaps you are relying on a Trump promise.

" I will end the war in Ukraine in 24 hours".

" I will bring living costs down".

" I will bring manufacturing back to America".

Don't hold your breath.

Promises like these are made by all politicians to get elected. Some are followed through, some aren't. His ego says he can do whatever he wants, but common sense says no. Impossible to end a war in a day unless you used nuclear weapons and the other side said, ok, you win. Bringing living costs down takes a long time, and this is another promise that probably won't work. As far as SS, no one in their right minds would stop paying 70 million Americans because it would be a death sentence for whoever tried. Cutting out false payments and firing unnecessary workers is a given, if they are unnecessary. Trump is a very strange character, fueled by his wealth, most of which he made by help from others, and even his supporters know what kind of person he is. Let's see if this second term redeems or buries him.
