As for social security...he's slashing staff and making it harder to seek redress. Which should come back to bite him.

Their investigations previously noted that there were jobs that weren't important, to at least them. Chopping the block without thinking? Who will know until the dust is settled. There shouldn't be any false payments made anyway. That's the job of the workers to find. If you cut important jobs you'll surely pay, but if you're paying dead wood it also isn't what's supposed to be happening. I'm sure, even though there is ego and arrogance involved, that they're not going to do anything that will harm the 70 million legitimate receivers of SS, as that , like I said, would be the end of whoever did it.

Because Elon Musk cares?

Given that they started the massive cuts right away, and that Elon Musk has consistently made claims that turned out to be false, we don't need the dust to settle before we know. We know already that these cuts were executed in ignorance. Remember that Musk started out by claiming he could cuit 2 trillion dollars from the budget. Then it fell to 1 trillion. His last claim had declined to 150 billion. And that claim is turning out to be false. He also claimed millions of dead people were receiving social security payments. That turned out to be false. What more proof is needed of the ignorance behind DOGE?.

Not a good idea to take others opinions, which are usually biased, on another's actions. The only way to know what the truth is, is to wait for it to come out. I dislike that side, but both sides have problems so it's hard to know who to trust. Tim always shows the truth. They exaggerate because they're billionaires with huge egos. Not unexpected. People who are given that much power, by voters, has them do what they think is right. This is why one person should never have this much power. it has never been a good idea, although the first few presidents did some good because the country was young and needed someone to take charge. After awhile it's narcissists that get in because of money and false promises, and the people who fall for the BS.

Promises like these are made by all politicians to get elected. Some are followed through, some aren't. His ego says he can do whatever he wants, but common sense says no. Impossible to end a war in a day unless you used nuclear weapons and the other side said, ok, you win. Bringing living costs down takes a long time, and this is another promise that probably won't work. As far as SS, no one in their right minds would stop paying 70 million Americans because it would be a death sentence for whoever tried. Cutting out false payments and firing unnecessary workers is a given, if they are unnecessary. Trump is a very strange character, fueled by his wealth, most of which he made by help from others, and even his supporters know what kind of person he is. Let's see if this second term redeems or buries him.

You are making the assumption Trump is a rational person.

It is not him who will get buried. It's highly likely America will go into decline. Empires do that from within.

But we've already seen proof that Musk is an ignoramus when it comes to the workings of government.

As has many presidents and other politicians, although they do some good, because they have people helping them. People first voted Trump in because they assumed because he was a billionaire, that would make him a good president, not fully understanding he was given millions by his father, and most anyone with any common sense could make more by investing, along with other's help. This doesn't mean they are president material, as history has proven.

I don't see how your comment is relevant to the current situation. The guy who is really in charge of DOGE is an ignoramus who has made massively false claims. Why does the dust need to settle?

I don't assume anything. I knew what type of person he was years before he first ran for president. Smart people I know, some in my own family, still back him, and they also know he's a weirdo, but if he helped you out in some way, especially saving you money, automatically he's a hero in your eyes and can do no wrong. If his decisions prove to be disastrous, he will probably be removed before his term is completed. He still has people behind him that make many decisions. Many other countries are having a lot of the same problems, but they don't get the media attention America does because of it's history.

Americans, many, are fed up with Trump, but they'll still back him because they're hero worshipers, no matter if they are smart or not. You can't go by the latest news you hear because much of it is biased. Eventually, like everything that is posted here on both sides, the truth and what becomes of it will come out. Calling a billionaire an ignoramus doesn't mean anything. No matter what happens, they'll still be billionaires. Some of their ideas are sound, and some, like the tariffs, might come back to bite America in the ass. You shouldn't take crap from other countries or be shortchanged, but you also shouldn't alienate your neighbors because you need them.

Powerful words coming from Karl Rove.  In the past, he has defended every Republican regardless of the

situation. If Rove thinks Trump is in hot water then DJT is likely toast.

Make no mistake, the tariffs will bite America in the ass. Smoot-Hawley apparently did not have any lessons for America.

Trump has already alienated his neighbors. Canada has taken American liquor off supermarket shelves. A leftist government will be re-elected in Australia. It was floundering before Trump embarked on his tariff war.

You would do well to remember Lord Acton's maxim: " Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely".

This is reason one why I don't choose sides, as they both have proven themselves wrong. I sit back and see what happens and it's easier to see the truth when you aren't biased or a hero worshiper. The most powerful man in the world can make either good or stupid decisions, or both,  and having a narcissist in charge isn't a good idea in any event. No rational thinker would say he could end the war in one day, but he's been caught out many times on stupid remarks, yet his supporters still don't see anything wrong.

What is biased? That Musk made repeated false claims?

What you hear daily on the news is biased, unless it comes from a reputable source, of which there are few. Yes, all politicians and their backers make false claims. Some are honest and want good changes, some only care about their rich friends, and some are plain disturbed. The problem is, is history has shown that many world leaders have been, or are, disturbed.
