Purpose of life is the most important question humans have struggled with for centuries

Yeah, but then you get a combination of your group of stalkers entering the conversation along with a bunch of people who have been brainwashed with nonsense.

I'm too tired to deal with all this.

Good luck figuring it out and get back to me when you do.

You know where to find me ... one of the myriad Trump threads.

Lord of the Rings, man.

Purpose of the life is to slay dragons.

The ideal world is halfway between Thai culture and the west.

You probably mean for humanity.

Makes no difference

All life on earth is basically

Self-preservation and self-perpetuity

For humanity specifically, there is individual and societal purpose

There is NO divine purpose - that is patently false

Simple. Procreate the species in order to satisfy the demands of the selfish genes that lies within every living thing. (The Selfish Gene, Richard Dawkins)

Human beings bucked the trend set by nature, by  learning to talk, think and write and thus got themselves all screwed up.

With the population of humans on earth having doubled since 1970, to now nearly 8.5 billion, I'm not seeing that procreation or propagation got "screwed up", beyond the negative impact that suoer-abundance places which environmentally constraints would normally contain

Self-improvement is makinf, creating, redefining oneself to be the best version or iteration of one's self.

Not in juxtaposition to others, nor to be better than others.

That's purely arrogance, not self-fulfillment, wellness, nor loving kindness to one's self or others

What is the purpose of life?

finding meaning and living a fulfilling life, and that journey can be unique to each individual.

If his Excellency, the venerable and enlightened, most gracious bestower of wisdom and light, Sadhguru, is right, and we need to live and explore all facets of life, then this would mean we need to not just fornicate with white women but also with Asian women and also black women. And not just Asian women, but Chinese, Japanese, South Korean, Indian, Thai, Indonesian, Filipina and indeed also with Brazilian, Russian and, well you get the idea, you'd have to not just fornicate with all of them, but also have relationships with as many as possible.

So of all us, only BritManToo can say he's really lived life in accordance with Sadhguru's guidance.

Spot on. There is none.

Except for the purpose you choose to give it. Most people choose to give their life the purpose of easy pleasures, good food, sex, film entertainment, shopping and so on. Alas, these are all fleeting enjoyments.

Some people choose to give their life purpose by living for family. A family that ultimately leaves them, as the children pursue their own lives, and quarrels with them.

I see now a new fashion, many young people choose to make self-improvement the purpose in life, to become better than others.

It's a good question with many answers.

True. Your life only has the meaning you give it yourself. And it remains even then meaningless in the grand scale of things.

Roy Batty summed it up exquisitely and I've lived like that ever since. Unfortunately that makes me something of a Darwinian failure since I haven't (to my knowledge) passed my excellent genes on down the line. And all I've seen and learned and done will be gone like tears in the rain.

Not necessarily. You can share what you learnt here and like seeds in fertile soil it may then grow and nurture other men who partake of your wisdom.

Nicely said. Thank you. I hope so.

And indeed I know I've managed to do some good and pass some learning on. But I will certainly be forgotten in the long run. And any learning I made is available to pretty much everyone - so as such I remain supernumerary and meaningless. A drop of water that will return to the ocean and be vaporized in a few million years.

I'm fine with that. It's reality. And most of it is fun - even the learning bits.
