It is not only impacting the "home care industry", but the entire health care industry, especially hospitals.  There have been reports of health care professionals working in US hospitals being arrested and deported.

What total nonsense, the only people in fear of deportation are people there illegally. You purposely omitt 'illegal' from your comments.

Article mixes immigrants and illegal immigrants.  Not same same.  Most health care workers are here legally.

Not that that will stop Trump, and Honan's goons squad, rounding them up and shopping them off to their El Salvadoran gulags!

It will take a few admirations to get rid of all the illegal immigrants Biden / Harris allowed into the USA ...  Biden had 2 more years, to allow more in, as that report is from, FEBRUARY 1, 2023.

... "Four point five million, that is the number of illegal aliens encountered by CBP officials just in the time since President Biden took office; 1.7 million, the number of illegal migrants that Joe Biden released into American communities; 2,378,944, the number of illegal migrants encountered by CBP on the Southwest border in 2022--the highest number ever recorded in a single year in our Nation's history; 251,487, the number of illegal migrants encountered by CBP on the Southwest border in the month of December of last year--the highest monthly number ever recorded; 8,100, the average number of illegal migrants encountered per day on the Southwest border in the month of December, 2022; 717,660, the number of illegal migrant encounters on the Southwest border in just the first three months of this fiscal year; 1.1 million, the number of known got-aways who have successfully crossed the Southwest border since President Biden took office; 856, the number of migrants who died attempting to cross the Southwest border during the past fiscal year--again, the highest number on record; 98, the number of aliens on the Terrorist Watch List encountered on our Southwest border during Fiscal Year 2022--yet another record set by the Biden Administration." ...

Trump pledged to remove millions of undocumented migrants as part of his aggressive immigration agenda. Yet immigrants are integral to the U.S. care workforce, accounting for 28 percent of workers in nursing homes and 32 percent in home care, according to nonpartisan organization KFF (formerly Kaiser Family Foundation).

They're deliberately confusing vetted legal immigrants with those who have come legally and found employment in the health care field.

Personally, I don't want an unvetted illegal caring for my loved ones.

I'd love to see them invite more and make the process easier for those with skills we need.  But not the ones that are going to end up costing (According to Mayor Adams) $36,000 a year per head.

It's beyond idiocy to deport law abiding ones.

Give them a path towards legal status.

If they are in the country without legal status, then they are not law abiding.

Every action has its consequences, and the stupidest leaders either don't think about them in advance, or just don't care:

Newsweek

April 27, 2025

President Donald Trump's crackdown on immigration is deepening a crisis in America's caregiving system, straining the already limited workforce that supports the country's rapidly aging population, experts have warned.

"The crisis in the home care industry is here, whether the elected officials choose to acknowledge it or not. It's no secret that we have a shortage of workers in the care industry and that immigrants play a critical role in filling that gap," Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Secretary-Treasurer Rocío Sáenz told Newsweek.

Using the same logic:

Thailand depends on workers from Myanmar in order to perform a lot of the low-paid, menial work that even Thais aren't interested in doing, so therefore all Myanmar citizens who are in Thailand illegally should get a pass from Immigration and all illegal immigration from Myanmar should be ignored "for the public good" of Thailand.  Right?

But here's reality:  If Myanmar citizen's want to work in Thailand, they apply for a visa, just like the rest of us.
Likewise: if foreigners wish to work in the US, apply for a visa.

I love you far-Left wing US-types who constantly promote illegal immigration into the US and vow to protect illegal migrants - all the while living in a country which has some of the most Machiavellian immigration laws in the world.  OP - shouldn't you be allowed to live in Thailand without a visa for the same reason that you promote about illegals living in the US?

Encounters do not mean they illegal immigrants were admitted or entered the country but indicate attempts to enter and were confronted or apprehended by ICE, so your claims are very suspect and need to be viewed in a proper context.

Not my claims, just facts for a govt report.  Try reading it, before commenting.

What I copy & pasted from said report, is pretty straight forward.  Apparently you didn't even read and or understand that.

Have a nice day.

Despite the intent, I doubt Trump will match the 5 million illegal immigrants that Obama managed to deport repatriate, or the impressive Clinton tally of 12 million. Didn't appear to be a problem back in the day. :coffee1:

And both those administration ran  on the need for border controls, as too many are entering .... :cheesy:

More than a few campaign BS speeches on the internet, and I've even posted a few myself in the thread titled "Politics, PC, un-PC, any subject, Satire via MEME or Vid (shorts)"

Seems you are the one confused. As I stated encounters are not admissions to the US. So to post it like you did was a clear implication that they were admitted and a failure on the prior admin just to make your off base claims. Try again.

My days are always nice so thanks

Obama and Clinton didn't have activist lefty judges fighting them every step of the way.  Not because deporting them is (or was) wrong, but Orange Man Bad.  They won't let Trump succeed, no matter how much they have to damage the country to fight him.

Nope didn't miss anything but maybe you did as to the reason why they were admitted. You try to make it sound like they were just released and admitted without cause. Read more and it will help your understanding and hopefully prevent your false claims and off base implications. Those other figures on encounters is where you stray from truth on admissions
