You'll now get a PM with vast experience in international economy and dealing with large corporations. An added bonus is that Melania (presumably) doesn't wanna bang him, which, as we all know, was the main reason why Trump hated Trudeau. PS. Be sure to send Trump a thank you note. Without him this would not have been possible, so at least he did one thing right during his 100 first days! There is very little chance Trudeau would be attracted to her in any way.

RayC Posted April 29 Posted April 29 In a departure from tradition, PM Carney did not firstly thank his family and friends, instead he opened with, "Thanks, Don. I couldn't have done it without you".

Trump got the result he didn't want by his stupid rhetoric. Carey is an extremely qualified economist who will have a very stable, long serving cabinet behind him which, due to his limited "political" experience, he will listen to. Having said he has little "political" experience you do not become leader of your party, PM and head of the Banks of England and also Canada without a fair modicum of political knowledge to get those jobs and keep them! Well done Trump and all the best to PM Carney! 2 1 1 3

Negita43 Posted April 29 Posted April 29 Yes and in this election the small parties were squeezed by the two major parties. It seems symptomatic of the world today - Polarisation US/ China - Republican/Democrat - Black/White no room for a middle ground. I watch a lot of news channels one of which is Al Jazeera, another is CNN - CNN have a punch line for a thing called "at the table" - they say it's a place where people with differing political views "talk to each other" THEY DON'T - they talk AT each other from their own view point. I also watch the BBC which claims to be "unbiased" it isn't it looks at the world from the "western perspective". Polarisation will cause nothing but trouble but I think it's here to stay.

The ‘word stage’ significance of Carney’s win is he can now pursue his stated aim to align Canada with Europe, the UK Australia and New Zealand and reduce reliance on the U.S. Nations acting together against U.S. threats rather than individually. As Carney has stated, we are now in a new world order, the response needs to be to that new order. 1 1 1 2
