The White House expressed sharp criticism of online trader Amazon on Tuesday for plans to show the contribution of US-imposed tariffs when displaying its prices.

"This is a hostile and political act by Amazon," White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said.

Asked whether Amazon founder Jeff Bezos was still a supporter of the president, Leavitt said she would not comment on relations between the two men, but repeated that Amazon's decision was hostile and politically motivated.

I think it's a good idea.  Show people how much it is costing them for not buying USA.  Now, and in the past.   Also explains why their salaries are so low, by how they allowed most of the manufacturing to be taken out of the country.  Lots of the USA 'brands', aren't even owned by US companies, and been sold long ago.

Just show how stupid they been over the past decades, since the 70s.

Som nam naa  ... now you're truly paying for your ignorance & stupidity.  Next time you vote, you might actually research what career criminal ... oops, politician, that you're voting for.

I know Lobbying is very different in the US. In England, this practice is known as Cash for Questions.

West Coast shipping from down 45%

Firework orders for next year are being placed now. Next year is the USA's 250th Anniversary.

Shortages in stores like Walmart and Target are not only likely but positively baked in. Even if the US and China reached a fantastical agreement tomorrow. Container ships from China take 80 days.

This year, kids at Christmas might have to be content with corn dollies and wooden things.

Transparency will just confuse the MAGA faithful. Trump told them all that the importing country was going to paying the tariffs.

With luck this will have the same affect as that music in mars attacks on the magga nuts lmao!!🤣 love seeing a ceo supporting and exposing truth!

I'd be surprised if Quisling Bezos keeps this up after being spanked by dear leader. It's a great idea though. Too political? Oh please. Puting on these tariff taxes to fund tax cuts for billionaires isn't political!?!

Are these the wooden toys my grandpa used to make for me all those years ago?

I think Amazon already folded on this idea.

No clue why trump/whitehouse is so adamant that a retailer should not offer transparency on their pricing.

Good one!it would be great for cnn or all of the reputable news outlets keep a running Talley like a ticker tape running 24/7 on just what trumps ignorance is costing us Americans and the chaos to the rest of the world.

Amazon "folded" because they'd have to show country of origin to show the tariff costs.  I've always contended that online sellers should have to reveal the country of origin, but they don't.  If I go to the store, I can always look at the box.  By law, they have to reveal country of origin.  If I buy on Amazon or EBay, I have to guess.  That's the way they want it.

He can't go through with it, would raise too many questions on the total price buildup.
