I am reading crimes not free speech issues? Crimes, I support deportation. Free speech of higher education campus … that would bear a closer look and judgement. But I do note, my perspective is as Professor Emeritus of History educated in academic discussion/ academic debate/academic argument.

Got a bit of a stutter there old mate?

You could have more letters after your name than in a tin if alphabet soup it doesn't change the fact they are there to study not be political...it's part of their tenure for being in the states.

The students should have their day in court and not have their visa revoked by altering the SEVIS data-base. Thought this is a law and order administration.

I think this 'day in court' is one of the things that DOGE needs to cut out because it must cost thousands for every case and take up court time which delays cases that do need to go to court. Fairly simple.  If you are in the USA to study and break the law expect to go back home. If you insist on going to court expect to pay all court costs.

Let me make it clear for you.

That’s no definition of treason anywhere outside your own head.

Absurd extreme left wing comment; if any American does not want foreign nationals that are guests in the US via student visas, to have those visas revoked and be deported if they commit criminal acts, then they are unequivocally a traitor; they are also the worst kind of traitor, as they hide behind phoney moralising and faux indignation.

Student visa revocation happened all the time. In 2024 there were multiple reports of between 300-1,000 of student visa revocations. It is the arbitary and opague manner of Trump's administration in which the data-base of foreign students were flagged for revocation that is the issue. By the way, foreign students have to pay their own costs for attorneys.

Attorneys representing some students that were flagged by the data-base have shown that they have done nothing wrong or some minor interactions with police like traffic violations or even charges that were never brought or later dropped could be enough to land foreign students on the data-base. Some have no police interaction in their time in US. Some has no arrests and no immigration encounters. This doesn't follow due process or a chance to explain. This is authoritarianism and abuse of judicial process and lead to lawlessness.

Yes it has happened all the time, but its only when Trump does it, that it becomes an issue for you eh.

Chinese students in US tell of ‘chilling’ interrogations and deportations

The exact number of incidents is difficult to verify, as the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agency does not provide detailed statistics about refusals at airports. A spokesperson said that “all international travellers attempting to enter the United States, including all US citizens, are subject to examination”.

But testimonies have circulated on Chinese social media, and academics are becoming increasingly outspoken about what they say is the unfair treatment of their colleagues and students.

“The impact is huge,” says Qin Yan, a professor of pathology at Yale School of Medicine in Connecticut, who says that he is aware of more than a dozen Chinese students from Yale and other universities who have been rejected by the US in recent months, despite holding valid visas. Experiments have stalled, and there is a “chilling effect” for the next generation of Chinese scientists.

Says extreme irrationalist.

Here’s the definition of treason:

It starts with something along the lines of ‘whoever, owing allegiance to the United States’.

Away with you and your emotional nonsense.

Hurray- At last. It was really sickening to see the thousands of young fascists marching against Jews & Israel. It degrades the University system when thousand of young men and women side with Hamas & Hezbollah. The sooner they are gone the better.

$44 billion economic impact

Higher education is America’s 10th-largest export. More trade deficit.

Great job Trump with another leg down on the economy. Foreign students are staying home and will not come back.

Are you suggesting we tolerate fascist in our streets because it make us money?

What is, “getting done”is chaos and instability. Still awaiting results of these actions. Ageeed, he certainly has caused movement.

Removing thousands of criminals pretending to be students is an excellent move. That is not chaos and instability. It's the opposite. I like many British people wish he was ruling our country and cleaning up the mess left behind by previous governments
