MANILA, Philippines — Criminal charges have been filed against a vlogger for allegedly disseminating false information about a purported police raid on former President Rodrigo Duterte's residence in Davao City.

The complaint, filed by the Davao City police and the Anti-Cybercrime Group, cites violations of Article 154 of the Revised Penal Code, concerning the unlawful use of means of publication and unlawful utterances, in connection with Republic Act 10175, the Cybercrime Prevention Act.

The vlogger, whose identity remains undisclosed by the Philippine National Police (PNP), posted on social media on April 30, claiming that 30 officers from the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, along with 90 Special Action Force commandos, had raided Duterte’s property. This misinformation led to hundreds of Duterte's supporters gathering at the location in response to the false alarm.

Col. Randulf Tuano, the PNP public information officer, stated that the identity of the vlogger would be revealed once an arrest warrant is issued. The case highlights ongoing efforts to address the spread of false information and the legal implications of such actions within the Philippines.
