I keep hearing horror stories but it would be a cheap layover? No matter where I fly from, its 11-4 hours in the air, is there stuff to do near the airport for 7 hours?

I've never been to the airport there, but how much do you really save?

For me, it has always been a change of planes in Japan, although I've also been through Seoul and Shanghai.

Unfortunately, the non-stop flights between BKK and LAX or BKK and JFK were discontinued years ago.

I assume Philippine Airlines is the only airline using that route.  Are they still flying 747’s…lol.

I haven’t been to NIA in 30 years.  Wasn’t great then.

Cheaper is not always better.  7 hr layover is a no go for me.

I always use JAL.  BKK-NRT-SAN.  Direct flight into SAN from NRT.  787 Dreamliner.

Avoids LAX, SFO or SEA.  Cost a little more but worth it IMO.

NRT to LAX is a regular route also.  Either 787 or 777.

Consistently good service on JAL.  Cute, young, courteous stewardess compared to the hags with seniority on U.S. carriers

Well, if you're trying t save $250 and that makes sense to you, why not? I've never flown on Philippine Airlines, though, so I can't comment on that angle.

As for a seven hour layover?  A long time, but not too bad.  I've had much worse one time when I didn't have much choice.

Maybe bearable in Singapore.

But as almost all reviews mention: little to no AC! Hot and humid in the terminal.

Have fun.

Well thats all it takes to make a choice.

Pricewise in the same category: China Eastern go through Shanghai, huge though.

Layover 2:35.

Can't comment on the airline.

Ratings are average.

(had to edit some mixups)
