I guess this will be seen as a bad thing by the usual suspects on here.

Cutting drug prices isn't bad.

The problem is the "executive" (same as president) is not a King and cannot just write and order and then make it become the law of the land. Executive orders cannot do things like establish regulation in business. Congress must get involved.

If any Trumpy's think the Prez can just do things like this with an executive order, somebody has really fooled them.

Executive orders do make law. They are used primarily to carry out things that the executive branch of government already have the power to do. It is by far NOT unlimited.

An executive order cannot in one foul swoop, cut drug prices. Get real. Do you think Trump has unlimited power as president? He does not!

Executive orders do not need approval from Congress as they are not legislation. How or if Trump achieves this we'll have to wait and see.

Prescription Drug Prices

  • Trump announced a new executive order to tie U.S. Medicare drug payments to the lowest prices paid by other nations, reviving a previously unsuccessful effort.

  • While this policy could theoretically lower some drug prices, there is no evidence yet that it has resulted in significant savings or lower out-of-pocket costs for most Americans.

He just signed it.

The ink's not even dry and the lefty idiots are already claiming it hasn't resulted in significant savings.

So the company which makes a particular medicine is ordered to dramatically reduce its price.

What if they say no?

What if they all say no?

Then we (Americans) should be allowed to order it from a different country where they sell the same medicine at a much lower price.

At the very least, gub'ment paid prescriptions should be sources from the least expensive source, even if that's not in the USA.

True, but fake blue pills aren't the topic of discussion here.

No but the authenticity and expiration date of drugs sourced ex-USA will be.

Not if it's done properly.  More accurately, no riskier than the US supply chains, who have them made overseas anyway.  Then they sell the same Indian or Chinese made medicines at one price in Europe and a much higher price in the US.
