Your favourite bars in Nana, and why. (Positive only)

Which are your 'go-to bars' in Nana Plaza, and why?

There's no need for negative sh*t about which bars you avoid, and it's not about Cowboy, Patpong or out of town.

Just The World's Largest Adult Playground.

To get things started, in my opinion Billboard on the 3rd floor has the best views, but Tycoon on Floor 2.5 is fun, although not cheap.

My go-to bars in Nana Plaza? It's a tough call. Some great ones. But definitely the metal bar railing near the escalator on the ground floor, sturdy, reliable, and perfect for leaning on while deciding whether to go left towards the end of the Soi, right to Sukhumvit Road or just head back to 7-Eleven for another bottle of milk. There’s also that chrome bar by the entrance. I don’t know who polished it, but I respect the craftsmanship and give credit where it’s due.

Honestly, I try not to play favorites. A good support bar in the right place anywhere in Nana can really make or break your evening and prevent any unfortunate fallout. And so far, I have always avoided all the other bars there.

But my favourite used to be the little one on the right with a big sign dedicated to Arabs and Moslems; apologising in advance for offending them and suggesting they don't come in.

Decades ago, the Nana Disco used to have a sign outside saying "Private Club". Those were the days when Oliver Stone used to hang out there and the place was packed with girls.

The guys on the door would point to the sign whenever the Indians or Arabs would show up and try to get in and then use that to turn them away. The irony is that the Nana disco is now an Indian club and only Indians and Arabs go in there at all. Not sure if there are even any available women in there now.

The best bars, In my opinion, are the smaller ones, where you'rre close to the stage and less foot traffic. Billboard does nothing for me, its like the McDonald's on the Plaza. I prefer the Bunnys bars. Tycoon, On Top, Random2, Mandarin. You also tend to get more attention there as less foot traffic. but each to their own.

I was partial to Woodstock.

since then, no clear favourite has emerged and i can't say I have set foot in the plaza in nearly 10 years, though I do pass it most days,

Nana Plaza is a sh*t hole, why would anyone care what the best bar is.

because there is a sad, lingering demographic out there that are trying to keep the memory of a long-gone Thailand alive.

Many of these guys who believe it's something wonderful probably never had the opportunity to experience it back in the 80s or 90s when it really was something fun. Now it's just a mockery of what it used to be. Guards and security gates at the entrance. The whole place is now just a rip-off and a joke.

Too long time since I've been to Nana, so my experiences are probably long outdated – and so are the ladies from that time, if still working there...:whistling:
Perhaps I shall revisit Nana and update my experiences when coming up to Bangkok next month...

Other than sitting at the bar at the entrance in the afternoon and having a few beers, I've only been inside Nana Plaza maybe once in the last 15 years.  If I've been more times than that, I surely don't remember.

Anyway, Nana Plaza was my first bar stop in Thailand 25 years ago. Don't ask me which one. All I remember is that it was on the second or third level and towards the back.  I think the next day I went to check out Woodstock during the afternoon. A nice break from the heat. They used to show movies during the day, and the food wasn't too bad.

There was a time when most of the girls in Nana were young, ST was ฿500, drinks were inexpensive, there were no Indians or Arabs, just a few Japanese, and hardly any of the women were overweight. But all of that disappeared 20 years ago. So is there really any point in discussing it anymore?

And the girls were friendly. Now its 3000 for a ST, you want it or not?  No thanks, not worth it.

And what happened to all the stunning girls? Not only in the bars. Used to be you would see them everywhere.

At least those of us who were here 20 - 30 years ago saw the best of it.

You pass them every day selling stuff but you can't recognize them !
