The post you referred to simply said "3 million violent, thieving terrorists" and you assumed he was talking about people of colour. Hmmm, I wonder who the racist is... 🤪

I know what he was talking about as I am a UK citizen and I am up to date with what is being spouted by certain people and who it is being aimed at and that does not make me a racist but factual…

I'm impressed the monks did not denounce him.

Buddhist compassion in action. Only the laymen did not measure up and grassed out the poor soul.

I always thought a temple would be a terribel place to go. The best option would be an educated 49 year old Thai woman desperate for male company. No risk of being denounced.

How does a foreigner live in a Thai temple for 8 months and not be noticed? His tent and other belongings are a total giveaway.

Yes can anyone just go to live in a temple? The Monks think it's OK?

I am not clear on latest regulations, but we used to spend weeks at temples in Laos back in the 90's as foreigners as there was no where else to stay. Key thing to mind, as this guy didn't was that the visa was current and of the correct type.

then should not be in the country-

Expats with a "one size fits all" mentality should not be here either. I am tired of the trashpats who lack any compassion at all for those who fall upon hard times.  Your imprisonment and deportation cannot some soon enough.

If the guy has no money, does that mean he will likely end up in that hellhole Immigration Detention Centre?

He might be safer there than going back to Russia and getting killed in Ukraine.

The absolute WORST sin according to Thai Immigration is to lack money. They don't even want the expats who HAVE money, those who don't are lower than a snake's belly.

I understand that he broke the Thai immigration law, but he looks like a harmless individual who for his own reasons just wanted a quiet life out of the Ukraine..

How can you tell all that just by looking at a photo of him?

He wasn't accused of hurting anyone, committing any offences other than immigration law.

He wasn't doing drugs, getting drunk or annoying people.

OVERSTAY!!!!!    The number one Thai obsession. Spending money here is punishable by imprisonment and blacklisting.  Thai Immigration has gone insane.

Why do you think that Thai Immigration has gone insane, just because they are enforcing the law?

When you arrive in Thailand on any sort of visa there will be an expiry date when you have to leave the country. If you know that expiry date than you know that is the date that you have to leave by. Depending on the type of visa, you may be able to extend it in country or you may have to leave Thailand and get another visa.

If you overstay by a day or 2 and then leave it is no big deal, just pay the 500 baht fine per 24 hours.

If however you knowingly overstay for weeks and month then you are deliberately breaking the law.

Are you condoning law breaking?

Sending back , is sending him to a mere death. Give him a refugee status Thailand.

He won't be going anywhere but the IDC in Bangkok, unless someone's gonna pay an inflated ticket price for his flight out. you're not just deported, you've gotta be fleeced, first...
