I see that no one noticed that the Capital Museum event was raising money for humanitarian groups including  Gaza humanitarian aid. This event was the annual Young Diplomats dinner. It is intended to bridge cultural and national divisions by bringing together Muslims, Jews and Christians for a common cause to help people who are caught up in conflicts not of their making.  This was a peacemaking event, not a specific Israeli or Jewish event. The hosting venue was the Jewish Museum.

Shortly after the shooting the videos  were circulating of the  perp shouting Free free palestine. This was also reported by some news organizations. others  chose to ignore that part of the story.

As others have pointed out, it seems that there is no way anyone would have known about this lunatic until the event.  However, he was  seen pacing about outside the  museum, and this should have set off warning bells. Unfortunately, he had a legal right to do walk around even if agitated. It would have been illegal to intercede if he was non violent.

If he was crazy, the question should be asked as to how he was able to access a firearm so easily.

It was an HK pistol, 9mm. Stolen or bought lawfully, I would assume lawfully because its a more obscure and sophisticated pistol, expensive and German.

Its clearly a part of organized terrorism, there wasnt only one member of the Narodnaya Volya. They need to find the weak link among his associates, he was too deep in the Socialist world and conspiratorial behavior in this day and social media age is difficult for the narcissistic types the modern Socialists use for their terror squads.

WARNING:  I am giving the link to the "manifesto" believed to have been written by Elias Rodriguez and published to an X account bearing his name.  The rambling 900-word document was published after Rodriguez was arrested but before his identity was made public by the police. It is dated May 20, 2025.  Don't open the link if you're likely to be bothered by the weird thoughts of a murderous individual. 

 

What's most disturbing to me is that Rodriguez' manifesto in places makes exactly the same points using the same reasoning as some posts by pro-Palestinians on AN.      Please note no official source or mainstream media source has confirmed that Rodriguez actually wrote and posted  the manifesto.  On X, it is possible to schedule posts for future publication.  There's no contradiction in the post first appearing after his arrest.

 

The manifesto is written articulately but not effectively.  It's disjointed and skips from point to point.   When the first two words are "Explication" and "Halintar" (sic),  you know it's going to be pretentious.  "Halintar" is a misspelling of the Indonesian word "halilintar,"  meaning lightning or a thunderbolt.  It's totally out of place in the opening of a manifesto on Gaza.

Using your logic, similar events  in respect to  Darfur should be attacked and  participants murdered too.  After all, 150,000+ have been killed in the Darfur conflict and there is a genuine  starvation crisis ongoing. There was a fund raising event in Washington DC last January 27, sponsored by the Darfur Women Action Group, who's goal is to protect and advocate for the victims of genocides and mass atrocities. The attendees were not singled out for  murder.  

 

It is quite obvious that the attacker  made multiple assumptions, many of them wrong, He attacked people who were advocates for peace and who were trying to end the war and to raise funds to help people suffering in the conflict.
