A police officer fatally shot a 40-year-old woman before turning the gun on himself in an incident that has shocked the local community.

The incident occurred on 22 May, at a residence in Tha Thong subdistrict, Mueang Phitsanulok district. According to police reports, Police Senior Sergeant Major 50, used a firearm to shoot Ms. Pathama, a close female acquaintance, in the left cheek, with the bullet exiting through the right cheek. She was critically injured and later succumbed to her wounds at hospital. The officer then turned the weapon on himself, resulting in his death at the scene.

Family members revealed that the officer’s mother had previously warned him to avoid becoming involved with Ms. Pathama. Despite this, the relationship continued, leading to tensions. The officer’s wife expressed profound sorrow over the incident but stated that she does not place blame on anyone.

Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the exact circumstances leading to the shootings. The incident has raised concerns about mental health support and relationship pressures within law enforcement communities.
