Samut Prakan not CW, could go on at CW, they are not going to advertise it are they. She lives 100 meters outside of Bkk so we often say Bkk

I'ma call shenanigans on this.

Corrupt official accepts 1000 baht when going rate would be 10-15K via her nephew, the agent?

What's that work out for her when she splits the ill-gotten booty with her superiors?  A bonus meal at McDonald's and a bubble tea?

Sure.

Or does the applicant still have to show up in their office when using an agent?

In the main the applicant attends immigration.

The assistance of agent if you provide and maintain the financial compliance is referred to as hand holding.

For extensions retirement the required docs are simple.

I have not experienced the attitude from io that you have described.

Especially when he already got a K Bank account .....

Although i've just learnt (PM - Thanks) is the reason BKK bank is pushed is that they will transfer money in and out immediately, whereas with K bank, it has to be done next day and there is fear the customer will withdraw the 800k and do a runner !  - If that's true, i can understand why ...

Kasikorn pulled out a while back, if Bangkok Bank pulls the plug the agent users are at panic stations

I have, once, the officer was a full blown uniformed Nazi, a friend had the same Nazi experience, but since then they've been mostly polite

The 4.7k is for bank insurance policy if that agent was used.

Indeed the guy may need to pay for the bank account.

At his age it would be 4.7k

But he's currently on a retirement extension already. He can open a Bangkok Bank account without being pushed to buy their insurance and without using an agent. You've really lost the plot here.

And I posted later.....

"As mentioned he can use various agents.

He can open a BBL account by himself"

what for the fake 800k transfer? which is what we were talking about

Well I have been using Cambodia Travel for a few years. This year I went to them to do my extension and they informed me that they no longer use Bangkok Bank. I think they must have had problems with their branch on Pattaya Tai. Anyway they said they now use Krungsri Bank. Not wishing to change agent I agreed to this and met the agent a few days later at the branch in Central to open a new account. I had to go down to the AIS shop for some reason with one of their helpers to get a slip to take back to the bank. I then waited with the agent and then opened a new Krungsri account at no cost. The agent did the business and put 800k in and then I transferred back to them. I then had to go to Soi 5 immigration where I met another helper for my photo to be taken. I collected my extension from them 3 days later. The cost was 12,500 baht, no extra cost for opening a new Krungsri account. Hope this helps.

Good info that, not heard of Krungsri being used before, a new thing maybe. Good price too, Cambodia Travel were 1k higher than Maneerat when I checked a few years ago, both same now

Chinese neighbour had the same problem in Bkk. After considering an agent she opted for putting 1000 baht in the passport at immigration. Nothing was said and she got her extension

I have my doubts this will be enough.

He has extension from a Non O.

Should be no issue to open a bank account.

At worst some banks may also want a COR.

I'm guessing each agency will have their own rules.

Some may insist on Bangkok Bank, maybe others won't.

I would call several agencies to ask your questions and get a quote at the same time.

Prices will probably vary a lot too.

Use Manareet they get everything right and made easy.

I wouldn't go to this "Agent" what the hell does a single entry or multiple entry have to do with renewing a permission of extension to stay for a Non-O retirement visa.

I've done my immigration business myself for 12 years. a total of 4 Non-O retirement visas so I know a thing or two here. Beware these agents.. One had a friend of mine paying for TM30 every time she returned from a trip outside of country. Just ridiculous.

It isn't worded correctly but that is for the single (1000B) or multiple (4000B)  re-entry permit

Makes sense to me, often people want to get the re-entry permit while doing the extension

Where do you see "re-entry" permit mentioned in these requirements?

Sure, I usually get a re-entry permit at the same visit as I do my permission of extension to stay but for the less informed it is not clear.

Many agents will take advantage of your ignorance and quite a lot of punters are over paying for services they could do themselves for much less.

If you can manage an hour or so over filling out some paper work and a visit to your local bank branch for the required funds on deposit bank letter it is not difficult at all to do an extension of stay. DIY all the way for me. Never needed an agent and want to be informed.

I don't want to be beholden to an agent for my visa status in Thailand. Hell it's my life we're talking about.
