Everyone should have accounts with 3+ banks as a precaution, costs nothing

  • How would they contact you if they want to close down your account?  I do not think that any of my addresses with them are current and they have also never wrote to me there?

So anyone here gotten their BKK Bank account closed so far?

Friend of mine, yes.

Cannot get at her money in the account,  ATM, app, whatever,  it's blocked.

She was told to travel in person to the branch where the account was opened, years ago. Of course, when she arrived, the branch had closed.

They are blocking the accounts of those 2m Burmese, Laotians and Cambodians who are not here on a long-term visa.

It's not only the Russians.

BTW BP explicitly says, people with DTV will be refused banking (because it's "not a long-term visa", 5 years seems not enough).

That will be very interesting.

Nope, none of us are Russians.

There are high-quality Russian posters on AN (I know it's not you).

And if there weren't,  can any foreigner be so naive to think they would target Russians but not those lovely Brits?

Their being unable to contact you, then, would be your problem, not the bank's...why would you not advise you bank of your correct address?

The way that they would "contact you" if they needed to in the circumstances of the OP, would be to restrict your access to your funds making you contact them.

It is depressing to see that soon we'll risk having both our accounts "back home" and our accounts in TH terminated.

Huh?  Only if you're not following your bank's rules...are you banking with a tourist visa?

That's easier said than done, these days.

Yes. Although you might not like it, those high rolling Russians are far more likely to be targeted than any lovely Brit.

That is why many should have done it sooner.

Hopefully my 2 accounts will suffice.

If not I will pay my condo invoices direct from WISE and WISE payments to the missus for anything I need to get out by of ATM withdrawals.

Not a situation on which I am sweating.
