A 20-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly throwing stones at pedestrians in Ayutthaya while under the influence of drugs, injuring two individuals. The incident, partially captured on security camera footage, has raised concerns in the local community.

The disturbing footage, from a camera on Rojana Road in tambon Phai Ling of Muang district, shows the suspect walking along the pavement just before 5am on May 23. The suspect unexpectedly hurled a rock at a 45-year-old woman standing by the roadside, causing her to be knocked to the ground. Initially believing she had been punched, the woman later realized she had been hit with a stone upon reviewing the recording.

In response, she posted her experience on Facebook, warning others in the area and explaining that she had filed a report with the police in hopes of preventing further attacks.

Reacting swiftly, investigators from the Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya police station apprehended a man identified only as Chokdee. During questioning, the suspect appeared incoherent, and a subsequent urine test confirmed the presence of illegal drugs in his system.

According to police reports, Chokdee admitted to throwing the rock, claiming he was experiencing paranoia and believed the woman was about to harm him. He now faces charges of drug use and physical assault causing injury and remains in police custody pending further investigation.

Authorities have also confirmed a second individual was attacked in the vicinity on the same day, though details about this incident remain sparse.

This troubling case underlines the impact of drug-induced behavior on public safety and community well-being, highlighting the need for effective drug intervention and mental health support. The local police are urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities as investigations continue.
