Thailand Battles Covid Surge with 12,000 Cases in a Single Day

"Much of the mortality is happening out of sight these days compared to what was going on in 2020 and 2021," Wolfe said. "During that time, nearly everyone was directly impacted or knew someone who was impacted by COVID."

Pandemic fatigue has also played a role in our complacency. "There was this collective trauma around the death, disease, and lockdowns," said Ziyad Al-Aly, MD, a global expert on long COVID and chief of research and development at the VA Saint Louis Health Care System. "It was a devastating experience that people just want to forget."
...
Rare adverse events associated with the COVID vaccine have been severely overplayed and spread like wildfire on social media.  "Patients need to know that like any vaccine, vaccine injury does occur, but these vaccines have a better safety profile than almost any others," Al-Aly said. "The rewards of getting the vaccine far outweigh the risks, and patients need to understand that." [emphasis added]

Please someone post links to genuine medical websites stating that it isn't COVID. Please.

Except for all those who  are still dying  from COVID and experiencing debilitating Long COVID symptoms....

You keep repeating the same refrain... majority....and ignoring the confirmed and reported COVID hospitalizations and deaths.

Your "majority" still leaves a lot of COVID sick and dead people who are in the "minority."

source as linked above from the U.S. CDC.

As I said. Non-severe for the vast majority. Let's face people who are in the vulnerable group can catch a cold, get a secondary bacterial lung infection that turns into pneumonia and die. I would not be surprised if this is more common than dying from covid.

Good night anti-vaxer, COVID denier brigade.... I'll leave you to your musings.....

Just sad the see the latest news for the day:

Thailand Battles Covid Surge with 12,000 Cases in a Single Day

Thailand could be doing much better in  that regard, if they were actually serious about doing the proven things that help prevent COVID deaths and lessen the likelihood of COVID infections.

I've found it difficult to find a covid vaccine update shot living in Rawai. None of the public hospitals are getting any. Bangkok Hospital is the only place to get one? With the ridiculous price?

I find it unbelievable how many here run their stupid, misinformed mouths at getting the vaccine, wearing masks, dismissing all this. Maybe it won't kill you, but these are all minor inconveniences for the payoff of not getting severely sick. This is a no-brainer. All this covid around will catch up to you. It can make you very sick and can kill you.

Good luck and by that I mean...

Yup.  Social distancing, masks, hand sanitiser, lock down everything, for the rest of time.  It's the only way.  🤦‍♂️

Better than locked-down in shopping malls! Have you seen the new Dior palace. Dior even willingly admits everything is faux!

Wife and I did our COVID stint back in May, my daughter still hasn't gotten COVID yet. Wife and I have had it the first go around during the pandemic, and again this May, both times she got me sick. I had the 3 initial shots way back, my wife and daughter have had continuous vaccination shots. This time it lasted about 3-1/2 weeks to run it's full course for both of us. I would still rather have FLU over COVID any day.

So if there are no symptoms, why test for anything?  This goes beyond ridiculous.  No one tests for anything unless they feel ill?  It’s as though the world is willing us to find Covid under any unturned stone.

This is my whole point. You can have Covid without knowing you have been exposed. It can be asymptomatic or have extremely mild symptoms. Anyone saying they know they've never had Covid is full of BS or simply doesn't understand the virus and what asymptomatic means.

Okay, but are you in the tiny minority. You'll never know until that smugness bites back.

What "tiny minority" would that be? The tiny minority are people with severe comorbidities.

I seriously wonder who much money the Thai Health Department spends on Covid tests

a fraction of what the UK spent on its "world leading" track and trace disgrace, we'll never know the full amount

It would be helpful if they did their homework and disclosed whether this is a new strain and what it's called, and if there has been a vax developed specifically for the new strain if it is in fact a new strain. Also, we should be informed as to how many of these people were previously vaxxed, as well as telling us whether our own previous vax is good for the new strain (most probably yes)

How do you know you haven't had Covid ?  subjecting yourself to daily brain tickling nasal swabs or blood tests ?

Are you still wearing a mask in your V8  and while having sex ?

Try your act at a comedy club and don't waste our bandwidth with this drivel.

Of course it originated from outside Thailand and is considered a Farang disease. If it gets worse I would not be surprised if all Farang be required to provide proof of a vaccine shot at immigration. Considering the side effects of the vaccine I will obtain a medical exemption certificate if necessary. Meanwhile I am wearing a mask again.

Given how anti-foreigner the Thai government has become, it wouldn't surprise me.  They are incrementally making it more difficult and more troublesome to visit Thailand.  How many people are deciding to visit elsewhere because of all the changes and requiring a vaccine certificate would be a significant disincentive.
