In a horrifying case of jealous rage, a 27-year-old man stabbed his partner to death with more than 30 knife wounds after she tried to end their relationship to return to her former husband. The brutal killing occurred just after midnight on 15 June in the woman’s bedroom in Wang Thong Subdistrict, Mueang District, Kamphaeng Phet Province.

Police from Mueang Kamphaeng Phet Station were called to the scene after reports of a fatal domestic dispute. The victim, identified as Ms. Somphit, 43, a local noodle shop owner, was found dead in her room with multiple stab wounds across her body, including a fatal blow to the back of her neck.

The suspect, Mr. Phanu “Teh” Ponglo, a local lorry driver and the victim’s boyfriend of three years, surrendered to police shortly after the incident. During questioning, he admitted to killing Somphit after she told him she wanted to end their relationship to reunite with her ex-husband, who had recently been released from prison after serving a six-year sentence for attempted murder.

According to Mr. Phanu, he had travelled from Mae Sot District in Tak Province to Kamphaeng Phet to collect his belongings and make a final attempt at reconciliation. After drinking three bottles of beer, he snuck into the victim’s home via the back door and found her asleep in the bedroom. Upon reading her private Facebook and Line messages confirming her intention to leave him for her ex, he was overcome with rage.

When Somphit awoke and attempted to take back her phone, a violent struggle ensued. Phanu used a knife he claimed to be carrying for self-defence and stabbed her repeatedly, initially in the stomach and then across her body in a frenzied attack.

After fleeing the scene, he contacted his mother, who later accompanied him to surrender to police. Phanu expressed remorse and admitted to the killing during police questioning.

Somphit’s mother-in-law, 59-year-old Mrs. Laemthong Suraphong, revealed that her daughter-in-law had called her earlier that day to apologise and explain her intention to return to her former husband, expressing guilt over his past imprisonment. Mrs. Laemthong stated that she had no ill feelings toward Somphit and had simply hoped they would part ways peacefully.

Police have charged Phanu with murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, and night-time home invasion. Due to concerns over his safety, he has declined to participate in a crime reenactment, citing previous conflicts with the victim’s associates.

Authorities are continuing their investigation and gathering further evidence to proceed with prosecution.

So, instead of using common sense, knowing the woman wanted her ex husband, that the choice is always the woman's and should be respected and that there are millions of single women here that might be a better choice, he kills her, and now the only sex he will have is from local men in prison.

Did his mother suggest for the police to allow him be sent to his room without dessert for one night?

the problem is with these simple minds, that in jail they would be treated like heroes, taught his wife a lesson etc, no further remorse... and this spoiled brat still living with his mom, still has to aknowledge her first... mental nutcase!

Thai female promiscuity causes so many problems in this country.

Not that I am saying I want to change it though.

He should get the death sentence but probably wont

I know this is sad but the poor woman had a bad choice of partners.

I was told to never display anger when I first came to Thailand, because it was considered rude but actually it can get you killed as Thais lose face easily and I have found they have bad tempers.

Jealous boyfriends murder partners to often in this country, although Pakistan has a shocking record.

It happens yes. Many times they know they will go to jail and may at a later date get a pardon. If murder carried a mandatory death sentence some would still go down that route but many would think twice and would not continue.

Somewhat more serious than sex in the back of a tuk tuk. And this is not an isolated rage killing by a Thai. If my memory serves me correctly it’s the third in two days in fact.

Extrapolate that over the course of a year and it’s quite a body count.

This is the thai thinking. If i cant have u i make sure nowone else can have u The same in many rapecases in Thailand. The rapist kill the victim because don't want to leave any signs who they r

I was in a computer repair shop in surin with my laptop. The owner was a beautiful mature lady. She said this would take some time so she bought some beers and we drink together in her shop. After a while she asked my size in my pants and said she wanted to try it.So we went to the second floor and had fun for a short time. After we came back her ex-husband came inside the shop and talked with her He didn't know i can speak thai so i just listen to what he said.He was upset and jealous at me even he didn't know about our visit in the second floor.I sat in her shop many hours and at nighttime her ex came inside again. He attaced me and smacked me with a flat hand in my face.I didn't say anything but i took him to the ground and told him to stop.He was an old fat guy and i didn't want to harm him.

He left right away. The lady told me that this had happened many times and he used to beat her really bad during their marriage.

The only way she'll have peace is to move away and not let anyone besides family know where. Those kinds of men sometimes don't give up and it doesn't take but a bullet to kill anyone. They don't care as life here doesn't mean as much as it does in the west. If it's my time to go, bla bla, instead of doing what you can to preserve this precious thing. If he treated her right she might have stayed, but some men think they can do whatever they want and get away with it. Smart women leave. The hitting doesn't stop and sometimes it goes all the way.

Some choose to stay for any number of reasons but if you can leave, you do, as some are relentless.

What a worthless, pathetic worm. I just do not understand this kind of thing. When a relationship is not working out, a real man tries to make it work, and when he sees that she is not who he thought she was, and things are just not coming together, he walks away, holding his head high. Anyone man with self esteem, who is in possession of his manhood, just wishes the woman well, and walks away.

With a failure like this total goon, one has to ask:

1. Who are his parents, and why did they fail so miserably?

2. Why did he stop maturing at the age of 13, and never become a man?

3. Why does he have no self esteem. What caused him to hate himself so much, that he could not just accept reality, and walk away?

4. Why does this worthless thug have so little respect for others, and for human life?

One has to hope he will be locked up in prison for a very long time, and let us hope some of his fellow inmates teach him the kinds of lessons he should have learned long ago.
