The Manila City government, in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Department of Education (DepEd), launched the "Diskwento Caravan: Balik Eskwela Edition" on Monday, 16th June. This initiative aims to provide affordable school supplies and basic goods to residents, government employees, teachers, and school personnel as the new academic year approaches.

Held at Manila City Hall's inner court, the caravan offers discounted items such as notebooks, writing materials, school bags, and uniforms. These price reductions are part of Department Order No. 12, series of 2025.

Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan encouraged residents to take advantage of the caravan, highlighting its role in easing financial burdens amid rising costs. DTI Secretary Cristina Aldeguer-Roque and DepEd representatives attended the launch, supporting efforts to make education more accessible.

The Manila City government expressed gratitude to the DTI and DepEd for their role in the successful event. Mayor Lacuna-Pangan noted that the initiative significantly aids parents and students in preparing for the school year.

The school year 2025–2026 officially starts on 16th June 2025 and ends on 31st March 2026. The Diskwento Caravan will visit various barangays in Manila in the coming days, providing much-needed relief to families as they prepare for classes.
