Chiang Mai or BKK for rhinoplasty and more

Featured Replies

So, as I get older, my nose is going out over my septum causing back pressure that is closing the opening between the nostril and the nasal cavity.  This needs rhinoplasty to fix.  Wife's suggestion is that if your going to do that, might as well do a face lift along with that.  Admit, excess eye skin is becoming an irritant also.  Question from the audience is if there are equitable medical facilities in CM for such or do I need to go to BKK to have this done.  Any direction on this would be appreciated.  As always, thanks in advance!

Have you had any luck finding a hospital, I am also looking for a more serious operation on my nose after cancer removal of half my nose, I am looking at Yanhee Hospital in BKK which has been recomended, from reading their website they do your kind of treatment.

I will fly from Australia first to consult and see if they can do it, The hospital in Sydney did a great job sofar but closing it up is intense, I think Thailand can do it better.

I also live in Chiang Mai when in Thailand

Looks like I may be using Nirunda in Bangkok.  Turns out there will be several steps as I have Rhinophyma that has to be dealt with first, then deviated nasal septum, then maybe the face lift.  Good luck!

Please think again on having the procedure done in Thailand. Your attention is drawn to the following;

- Risk of infection and complications  will be higher in Thailand.

- Follow up visits will be easier if you do the procedure close to your domicile. You may require  multiple follow up visits. Nose reconstruction may require  multiple skin and cartilage grafts over several months. Are you prepared to visit Thailand weekly or monthly?

- Do not expect an Australian health care provider to willingly accept a patient that presents with a foreign procedure related complication. The liability exposure is enormous. Priority is given to people already in the system.

- In the event of an error or negligence, you will have no practical right of recourse in Thailand.

- If the hospital in Sydney did a good job, then it can be expected to do as good a job doing the cosmetic procedure that follows.

Thailand's surgical capabilities for common procedures are  comparable to Australia, but Australia still offers an advantage in the technology, hygiene and skills when it comes to complex  surgeries.  Facial reconstruction is complex and  has a high risk of complications because of the proximity of the nose to the brain. The last thing you need is a drug resistant  post operation nasal infection, and countries like Thailand, Turkey and India have a problem with infections such as c. difficile.
