MAGA Warned Trump on Iran. Now He’s In An Impossible Position

The president ran on ending forever wars. But Israel’s Thursday night strike on Iran could force his hand

06/13/2025

President Donald Trump campaigned on ending what his base has long derided as U.S. foreign adventurism, leading the rebellion against an establishment that long favored international interventions. Now some of his most vocal supporters fear Israel — and possibly Trump himself — may have trampled his ability to make good on that promise.

The Jewish nation’s decision to conduct a pre-emptive strike on Tehran’s nuclear facilities on Thursday night threatens to draw the United States into a Middle East conflict — and split the MAGA coalition that catapulted Trump back into the Oval Office.

While administration officials say the U.S. played no part in the offensive, it was unclear as of Thursday night whether the U.S. will be able to actually stay on the sidelines. Trump — who Friday morning reiterated U.S. support for Israel and even praised the strike, less than a day after asking Israel to stand -down —will almost certainly feel compelled to help defend Israel against counter-attacks by Iran. Joe Rogan Regular Apologizes for Supporting Trump, Calls for Impeachment

Jun 16, 2025

Comedian and frequent Joe Rogan guest Dave Smith has apologized for supporting President Donald Trump, and is now calling for his impeachment. Smith, who hosts libertarian podcast Part of the Problem, said that he felt betrayed by Trump over his policy on Iran. "I supported him ... I apologize for doing so," he said during an appearance on the Breaking Points podcast. "He should be impeached and removed."

Why It Matters

Smith's comments come as Trump supporters criticize his response to recent military escalations in the Middle East. The backlash follows an Israeli airstrike last week targeting Iran's nuclear facilities, triggering a series of missile exchanges between the two nations.  Trump, who campaigned against getting involved in "endless wars," has supported Israel's actions.

...

The comedian is part of a rising wave of Trump-aligned voices turning against the president over the strikes. On Monday, former Fox News host Tucker Carlson said that if the U.S. is pulled into a war with Iran, it could mean the "end" of Trump's presidency—and "the American empire." [emphasis added]

Trump has no choice on this one, he knows who holds all the cash in the US, and their bank balance would make Elons look like a piggy bank. 🤑

I felt 101% (of course) That Trump was the better choice over Harris

But this aligning with Israel as both Republicans & Democrats of the USA always do is a wrong move.

Calling for the surrender of Iran is insane when one considers they are the ones being attacked.

When Israel was developing Nukes by Dubious means (read history) none did or said anything why?

Yet now Iran wants a Nuke & all hell breaks loose with Israel threatening to wipe them out....Little lopsided IMO

Don't get me wrong I think NONE need nukes as we all only have this one planet....but it is obvious these days with insane countries having them & being left alone why Iran also wants a talking stick

For what ever reason Israel is always given a get out of jail free card & plays the antisemitic card daily. It is like a window easily seen thru

I respect Dave Smith. He is a smart guy and speaks well. I can agree or disagree with his stances on particular issues, but he is wrong on this one.  Which is fine, the Republican Party is a big tent, and does not demand doctrinaire lockstep agreement with every policy. There is room for dissent and disagreement.

Were you able to post that without gagging? EVERY time someone voices an opinion the mad king doesn't like, they are threatened emphatically with being "primaried."

You know better than that, or at least I thought you did.
