Veteran activist Jatuporn Prompan has announced a mass protest at Bangkok's Victory Monument on June 28, demanding Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra's resignation over accusations of national betrayal.

At a press conference at the Rattanakosin Hotel, Jatuporn, alongside over 40 figures from Thailand’s political and activist circles, called for unity under the banner Uniting the Power of the Land. Attendees included members of PAD, PDRC, UDD, academics, artists, and military veterans.

The protest follows a leaked audio clip allegedly revealing Paetongtarn undermining the commander of Thailand’s Second Army Region during a discussion with Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen about border policy.

Jatuporn criticised the PM, stating, "I've never seen a prime minister offer up their army commander like this. Thai people must unite against internal betrayal."

The activist described the government as "weak and stupid," accusing Paetongtarn of threatening national sovereignty. He urged coalition partners not to use the situation for political gain, cautioning it as the Pheu Thai-led government’s "weakest point."

Jatuporn called for a protest from 4pm to 9pm on June 28, urging all citizens to participate. "If they're steering to sell the nation, we must sink that boat."

Panthep Puapongphan, Dean of the College of Oriental Medicine at Rangsit University, supported the protest, highlighting the threat to national security.

The group issued three demands:

  1. Immediate resignation of Prime Minister Paetongtarn.
  2. Coalition parties to withdraw from the government.
  3. Thai citizens to unite and defend national sovereignty on June 28.

Oh goodie, more protests. Just don't take over the airport this time.

I lived in Bangkok when all the red shirt crap was going on and it was a real PITA.

I'm happy here in Pattaya. I don't miss Bangkok at all.

Jatuporn was a big leader but he quickly jumped when Thaksin left the country.  He is one of the people that has it in for the Shin family .

He did time for the cause while Thaksin fled.  Ever since, he has been more for the people than for the party.  The red shirt and, to a certain extent, the yellow shirts have sort of faded compared to what they were.  This was more caused by Prayut, I think, as they found someone that they could all agree was not up to the task.

If he is setting a date he has the people already lined up and also remember university studetns are back int eh city which adds a large number to these things.

My advice is to stay away from Victory Monument and be careful around MBK next Saturday.

There's a valueless post, who cares if your happy in Pattaya.

It's not about you, it's about the political realities of Thailand as they impact Thai folks.

It was the Yellow Shirt protests that closed the airports, PAD, the Anti-Thaksin, so-called "Ultra-Royalist".

They had previously protested every Friday in Lumpini, but that was fairly contained. Later the Red Shirts took over and occupied Lumpini Park for months, and trashed it. That's what precipitated the violence under Abisit that resulted in the deaths of 76.

You'll also recall that it was the Red Shirts protests disrupt the ASEAN  Conference in your supposed safe-haven Pattaya precipiting heads of state to be evacuated by helicopters from the roofs of venues.

What you say is completely true, and all of the corrupt so-called politicians and Senators  know it and we all knew what would happen but as is the case all over the world, they are all the same, and I am all right, Jack and Jill, I am loaded and keep the peasants poor.

Why is a commander in the army doing negotiations with the enemy?

Said in audio

Why is a Cambodian ex leader listening to such a commander?

Said in audio

Why is a commander so disrespectful to the prime minister?

Commander is to follow orders and further to shut up. Anything else is disrespect.

You know what , go and kill then , all of the Thai, all of Cambodians slaughter each other.
