Even if I would agree with you, but in this thread it's about the Caribbean group in London.

(Btw. All your "George" kings came from Hannover/Germany. Is UK now part of Hannover/Germany?. You could see how silly it is to mention Romans, Vikings or whoever)

Diary of an Imperialist Chapter One

Took the mem Sahib to see the slave auction today. How grateful those black savages were to have the chance to be slaves to a civilized country, what ho!

Not for our slaves the chance to grow their own backward civilizations in Africa, but to learn English and learn that hard work under the sun is its own reward.

Of course, they were happy for us to take their resources back to Blighty where it could be properly looked after. Her Imperial Majesty was pleased to receive the gold and jewels we acquired and is intent on decorating her royal head with huge diamonds that show the superiority of the empire. Such an honor for the negroes who work our plantations, don'cha know?

Over the years we have educated these ignorant peasants to know how great Britain truly is  and how fortunate they are to work our properties overseas for a lash and a meal. We even have one as an indoor butler.

Met that chap Wilberforce in the club over brandies. He's one to watch, babbling on about the rights of the black man. If it were up to him they would be British, God forbid.

Anyone with even a modicum of intelligence would understand what I wrote. But not you

I think you see forgetting the part Britain had to play in establishing that which they later helped end.

"Britain, which became the world’s leading slave-trading country, transported about 3.4 million Africans across the Atlantic, making large profits for merchants in key ports such as London, Liverpool and Bristol and benefitting Britain’s economy."

Actually the slave trade was in Africa long before Europeans arrived, Africans enslaving and selling Africans into slavery.

And the Muslims and Africans still do, as well as the Chinese.

...or sacrificed in their 1000s. Maybe it's time to have a chat with the Nigerian government. 🤔

Quote

The Annual Customs of Dahomey (xwetanu or huetanu in Fon) were the main yearly celebration in the Kingdom of Dahomey, held at the capital, Abomey. These ceremonies were largely started under King Agaja around 1730 and involved significant collection and distribution of gifts and tribute, religious ceremonies involving human sacrifice, military parades, and discussions by dignitaries about the future for the kingdom.

Since Dahomey was a significant military power involved in the slave trade, slaves and human sacrifice became crucial aspects of the ceremony. Captives from war and criminals were killed for the deceased kings of Dahomey. During the ceremony, around 500 prisoners would be sacrificed. As many as 4,000 were reported killed in one of these ceremonies in 1727.

Most of the victims were sacrificed through decapitation, a tradition widely used by Dahomean kings, and the literal translation for the Fon name for the ceremony Xwetanu is "yearly head business". In later years this ceremony also included the spilling of human blood from the sacrificed.

In addition, when a king died, his successor would have to include a significant ceremony in his honor to finish the funeral rites. Until such sacrifices and ceremonies were performed, it was considered that the new king was not approved by the spirits of the ancestors.

They have all rights to demand reparations.

And it's easy to find out who got the most profit out of slavery.

And those are entitled to pay some billions.

Those who did well out of slavery were the ancestors of freed slaves themselves.  Instead of having to live in poor countries (whose leaders actually sold their ancestors into slavery in the first place) get to live and prosper in richer western countries.   One can only imagine how much worse their lives would have been had their ancestors not been slaves.  How much do you think the ancestors of the slaves should have to pay for this gift?   Considering it cost the British taxpayer (in todays money) over £16bn to end slavery, perhaps there should be an "ancestor of slave tax" which could be used to pay reparations to the British people who shouldered the burden of paying to end slavery as a starting point.

What a nonsense.

Most nations have been enslaved at some point in time.

Tell them to F-off.

I'd be quite surprised if Starmer and Lammy pass on such a golden opportunity to virtue signal AND weaken Britain further at the same time.

2 Birds. 1 stone.

Lammy looks positively delighted at the prospect.

You don't want to start the blame game, will you? That's too childish.

And you're not playing the blame game? Not much!

It is a "cash grab", pure and simple.

Ridiculous post.

"One can only imagine how much worse their lives would have been had their ancestors not been slaves"

Not being exploited, not being robbed, not being slaves they would have had all opportunities to develop in their own culture.

So when they were freed, why didn't they go back to their "own cultures" to the land of the people that actually sold them as slaves in the first place?   Nobody was forcing them to stay in the rich and prosperous western countries at that point, but they probably didn't want to as they would have just been sold as slaves to countries not controlled by the British empire had they returned.   Slavery existed for thousands of years before the west indulged in this practice and was the first (in the case of the UK) to abolish it.

Anyway, you clearly feel guilty about this so I'll set up a Gofundme for those who feel guilty about it and wish to donate.  It will be called "Reparations from people who never owned slaves to people who never have been slaves".   Can I count on you donating some of your own money to this?

Great culture over there in africa. I'm sure all the descendants of slaves all over the Western world are just clamoring to go back and live in the nightmare that most Africans find themselves in.

Some cultures are better than others and Africa doesn't beat the West
