I am one of the teachers teaching in Thailand. Now it's time for me to renew my work permit and visa. According to my school, I am required to pay 1,000 baht (one thousand baht) to process my document at Khurusapha, which will not be refunded to me. Since this kind of rule and regulation was not in place before, I would like to know whether there has been a change in the system, as my administrator mentioned it changed since April 2025, and we are only paying ourselves now.

I am moving this topic from thr Visa Forum to the Teaching in Thailand Forum, where you will probably more likely get replies.

I see  online: The Teachers’ Council of Thailand (Khurusapha) will begin charging fees for "the temporary teacher’s license" starting February 16, 2025.

never knew about this one, never paid it before.   This is one of those "depends how much leverage you have at your school" questions.  I had a school ask me to pay for my work permit, 3k.  I said I was leaving.  They paid.  I'm 100% sure they can pay the 1,000 baht.  The question is, Is this worth the fight?  It usually is.
