June 30, 2025Jun 30 Popular Post Anyone else struggle with buffets, or just me? I enjoy those extravagant hotel buffets and brunches, but I can't seem to compile a coherent plate. The Missus walks around the buffet and creates a photo-ready masterpiece of ingredients. My plate looks like a tragic accident of leftovers. There seems to be some mysterious skill to picking items that go together, then placing them artfully on the plate ..... and I don't have it.
June 30, 2025Jun 30 Popular Post Don't feel bad. I'm the same way. I focus on stuff I wouldn't normally have access to, so my plate is never balanced. Lots of smoked salmon and capers and nice cuts of beef. I'll get my veggies and the cheap fillers later.

I go for the smoked salmon, tempura, sushi, then spot some nice pizza, then head to the exotic cheeses. But there's also no logic to the layout. I'd like it in a linear flow - starter's, mains, deserts in order - like a school dinner but without the boiled cabbage.
July 2, 2025Jul 2 Since it’s all about maximizing expensive protein, I just go to Ministry of crab instead. The idea of having meat and fish in the same meal is a little bit offputting to me. Also, I am always over tempted by the dessert station. I end up having four little slabs of cream icing cake, all of which taste very similar and have the same sponge cake base. But to play: Virginia Ham, cheese selection, a trip to the Indian station, and a Caprese salad.

Buffets are overrated. You eat too much then feel bloated. More than 6 choices makes decisions hard and you are never happy. Menu restaurants are always better.
July 2, 2025Jul 2 No imagination here, 98% meat and 2% vegetables and can care less about the pre assimilation on the plate, it’s the post assimilation that matters.
July 4, 2025Jul 4 That's funny. Never thought about the composition of my plate. Just grab what I feel like eating.

July 5, 2025Jul 5 I only go to buffets that have upper grade beef/lamb and seafood. Carbs/veg/fruits at buffets are for retards. May finish off with a small tiramisu though...
July 16, 2025Jul 16 If you haven't been to a buffet like this, then you haven't been to a buffet: https://www.dmaris.vn/en/dmaris-ho-chi-minh https://www.hanoi.dmaris.vn/en/thuc-don-cnhn No time limit.

July 16, 2025Jul 16 I think you've hit on something here. Unless we have a long stay, I struggle with buffets......after a week, and I know where everything is, I can get into it....555
