A horrific act of domestic violence unfolded in Surin province as a man brutally attacked his wife, mother-in-law and father-in-law before taking his own life in an apparent attempt to evade justice.

On the evening of 30 June, police from Prasat District Police Station in Surin responded to a report of a violent assault involving a bladed weapon in Moo 1, Ban Sai village, Bansai subdistrict. Officers rushed to the scene and discovered three severely injured victims, the suspect’s wife, her father and her mother.

The home was in disarray, with belongings scattered and bloodstains covering the floor. According to police, the suspect, identified as Mr. Preecha 32, had attacked his wife with a knife, causing serious wounds to her head and arm. Her father sustained deep cuts to his arm and neck and her mother was injured on the hand while trying to protect herself.

Emergency medical teams provided first aid before rushing all three victims to Prasat Hospital, where they remain under close care. The extent of the injuries has been described as critical for at least two of the victims.

Five metres from the scene of the attack, officers discovered Mr. Preecha’s lifeless body. He had taken his own life by hanging, presumably not willing to face prosecution for the violent assault.

Local authorities from Prasat Police Station have launched a full investigation.
