A man believed to be in his early thirties died after jumping from the sixth floor of a school building in Nakhon Ratchasima on the morning of 3 July. The incident occurred at Boonwattana School, a well-known school in the city, sparking concern among staff and prompting the school to cancel classes for the day.

At approximately 06:00, local police from Mueang Nakhon Ratchasima Police Station received a report of a fatal fall at the school. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found the body of a man lying on the concrete ground in front of a nine-storey school building. He was confirmed dead at the scene.

Initial investigations suggest the deceased was not affiliated with the school as either a student or a member of staff. He is thought to have entered the school premises without authorisation during the early morning hours, likely by climbing a rear structure to access the building. He is then believed to have ascended to the sixth floor before jumping.

Police suspect the man may have been dealing with personal problems. An official investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances and motive behind the incident.

In response to the tragedy, Boonwattana School issued a statement on its official Facebook page at 08:00, confirming the closure of the school for one day. The statement read:

“Boonwattana School will be closed on 3 July 2025 due to the death of an unauthorised individual who entered the school premises. The deceased was neither a student nor staff member. This emergency closure will allow authorities, medical personnel and law enforcement to carry out their duties safely and without disruption.”

The school further urged parents to ensure that their children use the unexpected break for revision and study. Classes are expected to resume as normal on 4 July.

This is not the first such incident at Boonwattana School. In 2022, a student died after jumping from a school building. Another similar tragedy occurred in 2024, involving a student. Following those incidents, the school installed steel mesh barriers on floors 7 to 9 of its buildings to prevent further accidents.

This latest incident, however, involved an outsider who managed to bypass security measures. The school has not yet announced whether additional safety or security upgrades will be implemented.

Local authorities are continuing their investigation. The identity of the deceased has not yet been publicly released pending notification of next of kin.
