How can a 17 year old be a law student? She won't even have taken A-levels yet, let alone started at university? That is, of course, unless she's some type of genius, but based upon the evidence of th

Let me guess; she has never before been south of London? 😆

I learnt as a kid, that neither should one stay that long in the sun the first day (sun cream, or not), nor should one expect not to get a sunburn only because one 'was in the water, not feeling hot...'

Guess , I used to get blisters on my back when I was growing up on the Atlantic Ocean, in my seventies now and have had about 20 cancer growths removed, back & shoulders look like I have been flogged with those bamboo canes in Singapore.   Of course no one told us back then the sun is your enemy.😆

Nothing to do with Thailand... it's her body unable to cope with heat and sunshine...

as I assume, she must be passing most of her time in UK... indoors, covered with Sunscreen always and lack of vitamin D...

Oh don't know...  she looks as if she may enjoy plenty of Vitamin-D !!! :whistling:

I actually sympathize having once, with an ex, we spent almost a week inside recovering fro excessive sun in Florida. Growing up close to the New Jersey shore, we would lay out in the sun a good deal. I recall getting a good dark tan. Now at 78, just had another session getting the skin damage spots removed by laser ... again.

knowledge was different back then....    I recall being in agony at times in the summer after spending all afternoon in the sun only to discover by evening I was incandescent !!!...   I expect most kids of the 70's / 80's and much earlier encountered very similar painful experiences...

Its only in the last few decades that we see kids on beaches in full UV rash-guards and wide brimmed hats.

This girl was naive - like many others....   That said - I still get caught out from time to time...

When on holiday, mess around in the pool at 11am with the kids, see some of the sunblock wear off and before we know it...  sore arms and shoulders... (UV vests are the only things that really work properly).
