I am sure you are correct as there is no other explanation for it's idiocy.

Incredible, another one of your extremely detailed, insightful and philosophically well-rounded responses. Can always rely upon you to add so much value to the discourse.

Whatever he's making in his retirement is more than the average local makes here anyway. Just to live here you need to make at least the minimum, or at least the locals think you do. No one knows how

I live very well on half that.

Honestly, I can live on about 700 Baht a day average, some days less, especially if no whoring.

Internet, cell, water, electricity combined are another 100 Baht a day. The only thing that costs extra is semi-annual condo fees and health insurance.

I'm real dude. I feel sorry for the fakes on here. Making up stories from a basement. Sad.

Funny enough you are the only one that I know of living in a basement as they are a rare find in Thailand.

I honestly can't stop laughing. You've totally lost the plot. Not that you had much of one to begin with, but this is a level of meltdown that I've never witnessed before. Please do go on.

It is it's normal MO for it.

When it has finally realised that it has lost the plot it accuses everyone of living in a basement and having never been either in Thailand or moved around Thailand.

Oh wow, look at you, the fearless lone wolf who avoids tourists and idiots like it’s your life’s mission. Such a hard man, pounding your chest online while trembling at a harmless comment. Tell us more about your heroic crusade.

Trolling a genuine person. Get out of the basement.

So you admit to being a loser.

That's just what it works out to. I don't actually have a budget.

It seems so but that implies a modicum of common sense on it's part to do so!

Are you? I can tell. No girlfriend. No friends. Lives off 700 baht. Making up fake topics.

If you're contributing 90,000 a month to the local economy, then none of them should be unhappy with you at all.

Most of my income is spent here except for debt service to my credit cards. I still contribute a very healthy amount to the Thai economy, but I notice that efforts by Thailand to divest itself of farangs continue unabated. They just have to keep upping the ante.

Was thinking the same myself. I have a roof and underneath the building is car parking. No basement.

Have you patented your amazing spy system that gets you all this, totally false and imaginary,  info from just a few posts?

As I posted earlier it is time to change your broken record.

Virtually the same insulting and baseless comments in less than 5 minutes.

That is just on this topic.  it is virtually the same response across all your insulting replies on most topics.

I think the ongoing efforts to restrict foreigners living in Thailand through tax and immigration laws, along with the recent crackdown on foreigners using weed, reflect a mix of ignorance and desperation. The country is struggling economically, politically, and in many other areas (like stability), and these measures are desperate reactions dressed up as nationalism when in reality they are simply attempts to grab money.

Critcising someones choice of dress in a rural village seems a 'you' ssue, rather than a 'them' issue.

Why are you so angry.

I think its due to the new foreigner thats moved into the village, perhaps they wear a vest instead of sleeved shirt

You are asking Farangs ,what Thai's think about Farangs living on a budget,

in their area , I would think it does not cross their mind ,having bigger problems

of their own , but you could go out and ask some and report back with your

findings ,

Westerners aren't using public services like broke foreigners in the UK so I doubt they care at all. Gossipers will burn thru 100 people and the westerner wearing the ten year old flipflops will be one of them.

I’ve noticed there are some older foreigners who choose to settle in rural villages of Thailand on low retirement incomes. They often rely solely on a fixed government or state pension, may have little or no savings, shop mostly at fresh markets to keep costs down, and live quite frugally, sometimes wearing older or inexpensive clothing that doesn't present them so well.

I’m curious how local Thai communities perceive these foreigners. Are they generally accepted as part of the community? Do locals look down on them for living so cheaply and trying to emulate a very inexpensive local lifestyle? Do they wish these foreigners would return to their home countries? Do they feel these foreigners should be spending more to help the local economy or contributing something financially to the community? Or are they mostly indifferent and unconcerned either way?

I doubt they spend as much time thinking about as you do... if people are freindly and smile, I think they are ok - I lived in a village for 15 years - never had a problem.

I doubt it really crosses their minds, let alone giving them cause to think about it.

I say hello, occasionally lend a ladder or similar, and occasionally hire one to work in the garden or other odd jobs.

I am a retired teacher, and am occasionally asked to help out in the local school.

Cue the inevitable hysteria about work permits...
